That's a good question for any such service. I've had games on XBOX 360 revert to demo mode after buying them because the developer decided to stop selling that game. There should be some plan in place at these companies should they discontinue their networks. Some people have tons of money invested into their purchases on those networks, and if they go down, it's a HUGE investment lost.
