    Need help replacing capacitor

The Ouya console came with an UK adapter, but I needed the EU adapter. I had an other adapter laying around with the same specifications, but unfortunately the output was 12AC instead of 12DC. There was a bad smell and even before I could use it, the console is broken. It still boots, but the screen freezes all the time.

Opening the console the problem became clear, a capacitor is broken. I would like to know which capacitor is used next to the powerjack (see picture), so I can replace it. In the picture I already removed the capacitor from the board but the markings on the capacitor are unreadable.

I contacted the official support but with no success so far. Thanks in advance and best regards.

Big difference between ac and dc, surprised it worked at all. Is the component unreadable due to damage or due to its size?

    It's unreadable due the damage.

I took some pictures about my board. Unfortunately there are no visible markings on the component... (Are you sure it's a cap?...)

(Maybe someone with a different board will have better luck.)

Thank you for the effort, it's much appreciated.
It might also be a resistor. I don't have much experience with smd components or even with electronics.

Have you tried contacting OUYA support? I don't know if they'll tell you what it is but may be able to help in another way.

I'm still awaiting a response to my mail.

It looks like a 1210 model ceramic capacitor. Probably 10uf at 25v. Designed to act as a filter to regulate any noise coming down the 3-4 feet of DC wire. http://www.jameco.com/1/3/10uf-ceramic-capacitor for a reference.

Although just to be on the extra safe side. Wait for Ouya to confirm.

Thank you for the reply. I will check the local electronics store for a replacement.

Suprised the Ouya didn't have a fuse that blew first like with a GBA.
