That's a big question, isn't it? I know I'd be afraid to order the classic design, because I could receive an OUYA from an earlier stock. Nobody knows if they sold out or if Amazon still has early units with issues.

I left a positive review for the black 129 USD Ouya on Amazon.com, because with that one, you can be sure to get an improved one.

My black ouya from amazon came with firmware 0x103. To me it seems like a lot of the issues are created by the ouya itself and not the controllers. Granted I've never used one of the earlier versions before retail. Amazon does have the newer controller for sale. Costs more than the silver one.

I share that impression. My new OUYA is more responsive even with my old controllers. Must be either the new bluetooth antenna or the plastic case.
Although of course different people might have suffered from different bottlenecks. My occasional lag problem was quite certainly due to the OUYA, and not the controllers.

I have fw 103 on my controllers and am sending them to OUYA to have them updated. I bought so many me and cannot play it. Hope the update helps.

I have no problem with my 103 controller and so many me. I've only played it on my anthracite OUYA though. The only time I notice lag in games is if I play with a USB controller then switch to a Bluetooth one. It's much less noticeable with the upgraded OUYA.

Edit: Wanted to add that I don't have any issues with so many me with any of my controllers. But that could be that the game is designed around this and even though timing is important in that game it's not as specific as some games. Comparing running full speed on super mario and jumping to a single block and jumping again almost instantaneous I can tell the lag between the OUYA emulated version and playing it on my nes. With arcade USB controls there is no lag on the OUYA so it isn't from being emulated.

I have a launch day controller and it's fine for what I use it for, but I would love to get a plastic black model with the new sticks and better triggers, I don't really get a connection problem since the ouya is right next to my desk.
