    Draw For Jay For Xmas

It's time to start thinking about my Xmas collection, and this year I've decided that "fan-art" might be a fun way to do things.

I'm going to create about 20-odd minigames. Each one about the size of a Future Classic game. Not too big, but not tiny like a WarioWare game.
When I start a game, I'll trawl through the sprites submitted, and pluck out fun silly art to use for the sprites and the floors and the walls, and whatever else is required.
The artwork needn't be Xmas themed, and in fact, if the game collection is going to be played all year round, it's probably best that there's nothing too xmassy in there.

    What To Do
    Here's your sheet.

Download the sheet, load it into a decent art program, and doodle away.
Each gfx/tile/sprite/etc must exist within a 32x32 pixel area. (currently highlighted by the wonders of coloured blocks!!)
You can use as much or as little of the 32x32 area for each of the tiles as you'd like, and they can be for any purpose. Ground, Sky, Background, Player, Baddies, Pickups, Vehicles, whatever.
Use "Pink" (255,0,255) to make transparent areas.

In the bottom right is a nice section for drawing your own logo, or simply writing your name.
Credits will appear in the game, and these will be used there.

    What can I draw?
Draw whatever you wish, but DO draw it yourself. Spriterips and stolen art is against the entire spirit of this thing.
Characters, Floor tiles, Wall tiles, Baddies, Dangerous objects, Collectable objects, Shiny Things, Anything. Go nuts..
If you want to animate a character, you can use up multiple slots, but don't spend too long on it, incase it goes unused!!

    What's NOT allowed
Spriterips, stolen art, things of that sort.
YOU draw this, or the whole thing's pointless.

    Can I draw LOTS?
If you need more than one sheet, then that's fine, go ahead and do that, but don't go overboard.
There's only so much stuff I'm happy to cram into the engine's memory, without having to resort to "loading" different games..
(In general, my games tend to load completely into the system's memory, then never load anything more..)

    Where will it be used?
Wherever it'll fit. The past couple of times I've tried something like this, game ideas have tended to come from whatever sprites were available.

    Will it definitely be used?
No guarantees that I'll end up using everything, but if something particularly stands out, it'll probably be used somewhere.
Other art might end up in the background, and some might not even be used at all.. You'll just have to hunt through the collection, once it's done, to find your art.

How do I post my art?
Stick it online somewhere. I'm pretty sure this forum lets you upload stuff. Alternatively you can use DropBox or GoogleDocs, or even just email it to me (Jayenkai@Gmail.com)
Be sure to save your image as a .png (or failing that, a .bmp) so that it's nice and raw, and not horribly mangled like a .jpg would be.

    When Should It Be Done?
I need to build a nice menu system to cope with a variety of these games, along with a neat little Titlescreen/Credit/Highscore, etc for each and every game.
I'll create a nice engine to cope with all that, and then I'll need to start writing the games, probably one game every few days. (in the background, whilst still doing AGameAWeek !!)
I'll need to give myself ample time to code all the games, before December 1st, so if I say maybe 2 months to do that (Oct-Nov) that gives you until about Mid-September to draw.. Then gives me a couple of weeks to organise all the art and faff about with the memory!!

So.. You have until *randomly picks a date* September 15th 2014 to draw what you can.
Anything submitted after that will only make it in if I think it's particularly useful! But I'll be WAY too busy by then to even bother looking!!

    1 Month - Draw Things
    Go!

    With "pink" transparency"

So many more ideas; just not enough skills in a 32px box.

    How fun!

I am currently making a platform game. I have an unused test level, desert themed, so I'll submit most of it's sprites and graphics.

Here's mine. After the first few tiles, the story practically wrote itself.
And yes that is Platdudette in hot pants with a ponytail or open hair, couldnt decide.

I call it "Platdudette and the rose garden".

Don't matter if you can't use it now Jay, but you may whenever you feel like it later.

Downloaded the new game. Awesome, love it. Couldn't wait so I "cheated." Thanks for using the sprites and credit. Congrats on #1,000.
