I've bought this game as it had a free demo and worked with my usb/wifi mouse and keyboard. The price was good, too. Cheers! It is currently fighting for position with "Bik - A Space Adventure" (another great point and click game) and "Whispering Willows" (which also has a demo and full compatibility with my Ouya controller setup).

    I crawe Brawe!

I am working on a review of this game for GBAtemp. I have come across a few controller bugs. I am using the OUYA controller for all testing. If you own this game and have the OUYA controller, would you be so kind as to reply here or PM me. I would like to get some conformation and double fact checking so that I am not typing incorrect information into the review. I ask this because I have contacted the team behind the game and they reported to me that they had no such controller issues before submitting the game. The bugs I am experiencing are repeatable. Some are in the menu system, others are during game play and directly effect one's ability to complete the game.

    I would appreciate the help,

    Hello,

While I won't be testing for you since I don't have the game. Please explain what these bugs are, how they appear, and how one can repeat them. I can get the QA Team at OUYA Incorporate to look into things.

I have everything written down. I even have a save file (if I can find where they are stored and get it off the OUYA) for the first game altering bug I came across. Please allow me time to finally complete the game and I'll replay back here before I start writing the review.

    Thanks for your help. =)

So, just out of curiosity, where might save files be stored?

Here are the bugs, the problem is a few of them only happen at specific parts of the story. Without save files (and I need to check that I made one for each problem) I can only describe where they happen.

The first bug is when you are doing the full tutorial with Ensign Kralek. This happens within the first 10 minutes of the game. After which what is on the screen is a message to "Use pinch to zoom in." This is impossible on the OUYA and there is no way to clear this message. I was forced to exit the game or load an earlier auto save. My best advice to gamers is to read the tutorial to learn what to do, and then start the game over and this time skip the tutorial.

Another bug I found was that it is impossible to exit the Help screen. There is no way to choose the "X" and pressing A does not return to the menu. This bug forces a reboot of the game.

In the Quick Tutorial screen it is again impossible to choose the "X", however, pressing A does return to the menu.

When it is time to navigate to Schminkell 7 you need to grab a specific bit of paper that prints out. You enter the planet code for Schminkell 7 (7715-882). The instrument panel prints out the flight pattern calculation. However, you can not grab it. Its "bubble" is labeled "instruments" and when you click on it you'll only get the option to enter the codes again. There is no way to get the paper with the controller. You must use the trackpad or a mouse (mouse untested) and click directly on the paper. The paper is required to advance the game and I think that this bug will confuse a lot of gamers as they will simply think the game is broken.

When you finally get a second character to control you can press a button to drop that menu (forgive me, I forget which button that is). However, it is impossible to select a character with the controller. The selection instantly jumps back up to the top menu. The only way to select a second character is to use the trackpad or a mouse (mouse was not tested, though). Again, this bug will likely confuse a lot of gamers and they will simply think the game is broken.

To solve the tree puzzle on planet Jamma Spacea you need to clean the tree with Glass Cleaner. The note says to use Alcohol, but the liquid is called Glass Cleaner in the inventory. This is a bit confusing. After the tree is clean a safe appears, the date code is in UK standard (DD/MM/YYYY). As a majority of OUYA sales are in N. America this puzzle element becomes confusing. I think this may trip up a lot of younger gamers who are not aware that MM/DD/YYYY is not a world standard.

The person who I contacted about a review code (e-mail withheld) assured me that they fully tested the game before submitting it and they did not have these issues. I have confirmed the issues with a few other gamers (who also wished their names withheld). My contact said that they would look into this when they had time. I am not faulting them for being busy, but the current state of the game just seems wrong to me. Unless you are creative at debugging or problem solving you may simply find the game unbeatable. I can assure you that the game can be completed 100%, it just requires creative thinking to overcome some bugs.

The review needs a good edit, then formatting. I'll hold off on publishing it for a few days to allow time for any users to report back if they duplicated these issues.

Curious... Can someone tell me the price of the game? I installed it before writing that down.

    Cheers,

    Price is $4.99

Also, I cannot stand the fact that US has a different time format than the rest of us. Bugs the hell out of me..Yup, happy to be Canadian!

My review has been posted: http://gbatemp.net/review/kaptain-br...new-world.194/

Short version? I really enjoyed this game. It was wonderfully put together, scripted, designed, etc. The adventure is about 4-6 hours long, depending on your skill level and/or need to read everything. I had a lot of fun playing it, regardless of the bugs. Hopefully those will get ironed out in a future update.

    Enjoy the read,
