Oh, Traufe is Dachkante?? I had no idea. I always thought it was a very hot place. Go figure.
So it would translate better to "from the rain into the drain", maybe? That even rhymes.

I has got this from day one. Get replacement controller with latest firmware and the problem remains. All the guys in this forum telled me "YOU DUMB THE OUYA IS PERFECT AND THE LAG AND RANDOM ERRORS IN CONTROLLERS ARE JUST YOUR STUPIDITY" But finally i managed a real solution to this trouble: I shutted off my Ouya forever and bought a PS 4, no more lags, no more stupid answers from technical support and no more "retro" crap. So is up to you men.
Yeah, I think a similar expression in English is, "Jumping from the frying pan and into the fire."
It's unfortunate that the earlier box models (or at least a chunk of them) seem to suffer from these issues. I hope there's some more hope in it for you, simple-smile. At least you have managed the work-around with Xbox Controllers. Still too bad though.
It's definitely one of the reasons I tell anyone I recommend OUYA to for them to try to get the new black model. To make sure they have the box and controller improvements.

"Be the change you wish to see."
I hooked my controller up to my raspberry Pi linux box running a broadcomm bluetooth adapter. And found the same results. Zero lag time, no disconnections, even after moving away from the PC approximately 18 yards. I hooked all 4 up to the linux box and the signal noise did not get any worse.
This is good news for people running Ouya everywhere and want to get a controller for their tablet for the total experience. But not so great news for us launch retail console people.
the retail launch ouya and the 16 Gb ouya never gave me any input lag from 15-18 feet.
those were both hooked up via ethernet with now other bluetooth devices around to interfere.
Demos. Who gives a shit...

I've never had issues, so I have only other people's tests and anecdotes to go off of... but everything seems to keep hinting back at the aluminum casing. OUYA with other wireless controllers seems to be fine. OUYA controllers with hardware other than OUYA itself seems fine. OUYA is supposedly using very energy efficient bluetooth chips in their controllers, and considering the insanely long battery life, this is easy to believe. My guess is that these chips do fine without an aluminum barrier in the way, and that other controllers are dumping enough power into their radios to blast their way through.
In light of that, for owners of the aluminum console who are having these issues, it isn't totally hopeless. There's still always this:

Interesting though there have been several tests without the aluminum case and the signal strength did not change much. At least not enough to give problems. I stand by my theory that it has to do with wave interference as mentioned above. Will try without the case today.
Edit: hm nope didn't help much. Still occasionally there. Will test more though
