Toto Temple Deluxe - Juicy Beast

We've been posting on this thread for a while now, but the wait is now over and Toto Temple Deluxe is finally available! You can check out the new website here!

    • Supports up to 4 players
    • 6 different temples, each with their own unique mechanics (more soon)
    • 3 game modes: classic Free For All, Team Battle (2 vs 2) and Training (solo and co-op)
    • 9 unique power-ups to master that can change the flow of a match if use wisely
    • An auto-balance system to level the playing field between casual and hardcore players
    • An egg-laying goat
    • Supports PS3 and XBOX 360 Controllers on OUYA and M.O.J.O.

"It is stupidly fun. You'll likely find yourself standing in front of the screen, yelling at your fellow goat stealers and jostling them in real life."
    - Dan Tynan (Yahoo Tech)

"Accessible and engaging, the game is a great example of a work that can speak to bringing players casual and hardcore, young and old together."
    - Gamercamp.ca

If you download the game (which has a free demo, btw) and try it out, let us know what you think!

Yeah, these are things we discussed thoroughly between ourselves, but bots would be a giant chunk of development, sorry :/

Also for different characters, we would have to rethink the whole first screen, maybe even make one more screen which would be a little too much. The physical interface was meant to teach the controls, so we would not want to change that. We'll think about how we could put this option into the game so it does not look forced though, because this is a very valid request.

    Hey Alexandre,

I loved Knightmare Tower, and so I grabbed the demo yesterday the first chance I had. I played Challenge Mode a bit, and I look forward to grabbing a family member to play with me later today.

That tiger trap stage is pretty neat! I really look forward to playing multiplayer in that one.

I'd say bots and different character selection would be nice, but it's fine without too. I understand the reasoning behind not having those and it's OK with me.

The little single player bit of Challenge Mode is pretty nice. I like how you sorted that out.

I downloaded the demo. Haven't had a chance to play but from what I see with the exception of challenge mode this is a multiplayer only game. I know adding bots can be a challenge. But please consider it. Too many ouya gems are reliant on the fact that we have friends who wanna come play your abstract game system with you... Let alone friends that come over. As someone who works weekends...this is hard feat in your mid 20s.

Downloaded and will kid test this weekend before purchase. But looks very polished.

You DEFINITELY want a character select. You can even keep the first screen the same, just add left/right buttons that change your character when you slam it. Then in multiplayer, choosing your favorite character would literally be a race... almost a minigame.
It would certainly add another element, and character selection is definitely necessary.

We never seen being able to choose your color as a necessity as they are basically all the same. But, eager as we are to please people, it would not surprise me if we were to add the feature, we'll just have to figure what induces less confusion in the selection as well as the overall navigation.

For the bots, it really is not in the kind of budget we run with, but that said, we're thinking about maybe developing the AI and then re-use it in future games. Anway, even if we were to go full throttle on the development of this aspect, it would take at the very least a month to have something interesting.

For online, it simply can't be. I suggest you this article to enlighten you on the subject
    http://www.polygon.com/2014/3/11/549...mode-towerfall

    TLDR :
Online makes every movement and input non-synchronized, best case scenario, the players would be non-synchronized of 50 milliseconds (4 frames) and it is pretty frequent that the delay would be around 100 milliseconds (1/10th sec), and we're not talking about worst case scenarios with half a second of delay.

Like Super Smash's Bros: Brawl online component has been a fiasco because it heavily relies on precision and reflexes, having even 1/10th sec f delay would make the game feel really bad and unfair, no matter how much efforts you put in trying to make the delay less visible.

It's nothing you're forced to do, but I know my girlfriend loves to pick her favorite color or character in Towerfall/Duck Game etc..
We had a really fantastic time with the game last night, and my gf LOVED the variation of strategy that each temple required.
Subtle changes like that make the biggest difference. Keep up the good work, excited for future updates!
