Platdude in A Go Kart - AGameAWeek

Drive around the racetrack, collect the stars, and guide them back to the goal.
How many stars can you gather?
Watch out for the Swirly Things!!

It's a strange oddity of a game, but there's one thing for sure..
Platdude is most definitely, in a go kart!!

You can grab the game from the OUYA.TV site, or hunt it down in the Discovery channel.

    PaperArcade
Got some time on your hands? Have a Printer nearby? Bored? Want some vaguely merchandise-esque goodies for your AGameAWeek collection?!
    PaperArcade Cabinet
Print it out, cut out the cabinet, and stick it back together again.

I actually really enjoy this - the thrill of racing with the addictiveness of snake! Great job.

Oh hey I'm glad to see you back! Thought you'd gone on vacation or something... don't think I'd seen anything from you this month until now!

Yeah, I've been MIA for most of this month. Honestly, I was in a bit of a funk, and wasn't feeling up to much, let alone coding a new game every week! Rather than pushing through, I opted to take a bit of a rest, and ended up spending a good few weeks doing not much at all!
I think I'm back, now, though!!

I had some fun with this. The only issue I noticed was that when you pause it just brings up the pause menu but the clock keeps ticking and the game keeps going.

    Tsk..
When I first decided to implement a Realtime pause system, I thought it'd be nice and easy, but week after week there are nothing but issues!!!
Baddies not pausing, explosions continuing, bullets still bulleting... Seems like every game has at least one forgotten oddity that carries on in pause mode!!

I don't want to make a boring simplistic pause-screen, but... I kinda get the feeling that it might be for the best!!

Have the pause screen play Muzak in the background. That should make it more exciting then

Maybe I should repurpose my "testcard" screen, since nobody ever notices it.. (Right shoulder button on the Titlescreen)

Maybe the issue is that the games are scared that they will at least be partially forgotten by the game that you will release the next week? So, they refuse to pause because they want to be played as long as possible and fear that their time is limited. Maybe you are creating games so fast that they are becoming sentient?
