    Bee Active - Part12 Studios

    Hi everyone,

I got an invite from Killswitch to announce my recently published game (as of last night) here on Ouyaforum.com to help spread the word. I made this game using Construct 2 and CocoonJS to handle the wrapping of this HTML5 game.

I made this game as a charity game to help raise awareness. The game is 100% free. its 11mb so it's not a space hog. Try it out and if you do, a kind review is always appreciated.

It has been published on a lot of other platforms as well. It is an all major mobile app stores and more. The Ouya has been a platform I've wanted to reach for awhile so I'm super excited that this game helped me figure out what the process is like so now I can bring more games to it!

    Visit http://part12studios.com/portfolio-items/bee-active/ to learn more.

    Sincerely,

As a fellow Construct 2 dev I'll look forward to giving this a try tonight. (Oddly, I'm in the process of making a bee game myself...strange eh?).

Looking forward to seeing if and how you've managed to overcome some of the issues of going through the Ludei service.

Played the web game - I don't like flappy style games anyway - but this is quite nice.

@Grimbarian funny enough I'm not a flappy bird fan either, but my wife was doing a charity event and I had a week to produce a game that should could give away to those who made donations to sweeten the deal. Technically two weeks but I had to set asside a week before the event for iOS app approval. So with only a week to make the game and art.. I was under the gun. I did probably put another week worth of polish / tweaks to the game (notice it's 1.3.0.0) once the event was over just to refine the experience a little.

I actually took more inspiration from Jetpack Joyride (pollution a loose equivalent to the electric shockers) and Zombie Tsunami for the crowd concept of bees. Ultimately this was a way to test the waters. I am EXTREMELY pleased with the performance of CocoonJS's wrapping up this game. There are a lot of sprites and parallax going on here and the Ouya hardware handles it very well. The only issue I see now is getting the IAP system working for my next game to allow folks to try before they buy and such. I would also

I'm going to make a tutorial for Construct/CocoonJS for the Scirra site soon. I'm going to first take a stab at IAP to see if its easy.. and if so I'll include that in the tutorial.. if it turns out toe be a hassle I'll do the down and dirty "how to make a free game" tutorial which is very quick..

    Hey Part12Studios,

I was just thinking about the poor bees today on my walk home. Downloading it now to check it out.

    @Sitting Fox thanks!

You know.. funny story.. since making this game we now have a nest of ground honeybees in our back yard.. serouisly... also it was funny to be asked to make a game about bees, when I'm mildly phobic of them.. but I do love honey and I do love the good work they do. The fun facts in the game are pretty amazing. My wife did the research for them.

    You're welcome.

I think it's an interesting take on the flappy/florpy games, and the bee facts are pretty neat.

Only suggestion I'd make is that it looks like the game over screen has a delay to the buttons while the continue to next round screen does not, which makes me miss the facts that come up if I'm flapping away. So if a delay could be put on that too, it'd be great.

@Sitting Fox, that is something that managed to let slide.. but i absolutely agree it needs to be refined.. and since you've said something about it, now I am morally obligated to fix it

With regards the issue that SittingFox has brought up - I'm guessing it's to do with the button presses not working properly in Ludei's compiling service.

Good news is - this has been fixed now, so all those delays/timers I suspect you may have put in for those can come out.

Downloading to try now - looking forward to the tutorial.

    Hey Grimbarian,

From what I understand, the button presses work fine. The thing is, the button to flap is O, which is also the button to continue to the next round or restart for a game over. So the delay is intentional and good, it's just not in both places. Without the delay, you don't get to see the little screen. You go right passed it.

It's alright. I look forward to the fix. Then I can not miss any facts.
