I think you've got to provide some more detail than that. That's very little to go on. Do you remember the game play at least
OK, this is going to sound ridiculous but I am trying to find the name of a coin-op arcade game I have played and liked. I don't have a lot of information on it other than I know it was made before 1984 and it has multi colored boxes/icons or shapes going all around the edge of the screen. That's it, can't remember anything else whatsoever except that I loved it !! Lol
If any game names come to mind from this pathetic description please post them here and I will definitely check them out. I have been scanning artwork and snaps for a longtime trying to spot it.. TIA

Not a clue, it was about 34 years ago I played it and the reason I can't remember the name is it was very hard to read it at the top of the machine with the colors they used. I know it's not a lot to go on but I really can't think of many games that have squares/icons going all around the edgenof the screen. Somebody might recognize it by that hopefully..
You can do like I had to once when looking for an arcade game in MAME, but could remember the name - sort games by year and work through the approximate timeframe one at a time... time consuming, yes, but I did find it.
could it have been robotron 2084, maybe?

Demos. Don't let them try and more will buy; does it matter if they are happy?
The attitude the developer has displayed toward me by not providing a demo is reciprocated by me not patronizing them.
DRM. Insulting and punishing customers equals increased sales, right?
The attitude the developer has displayed toward me by requiring that I constantly prove I'm not a thief is reciprocated by me not patronizing them.
Thanks for the responses but none of the above... The multicloured shapes were all around the edge during gameplay. I do think there was shooting involved. I found a site that you could click on a year and see all the arcade games made that year and who made them. I went from 1989 and all the way back reading every game name hoping something would jump out at me and it didn't. I even looked though a whole crap load of Google images and Mame art/snaps and still nothing.
Must have been a very rare machine, I know I have the time frame right because I was still in highschool and running down to the local Becker's to play a different machine every month. Funny thing is I can list every game that Beckers had except that one !!! Lol
Astroblaster?
cosmic guerrilla?
Was it a space shooter?
Nope, and I think it was some kind of a shooter, just not space or western, was does that leave ?? Araknoid type sort of maybe but not exactly that...
