From my experience, I can say that OUYA isn't capable to properly manage the blood effect and water effect. Too heavy frame-rate drop in complex situations.

I turned both off, playing more smoothly.
Smoothness it the first thing in a FPS.

No, she's saying that until you pay for the engine, the engine won't let you play that stuff. She only found this out from her brother because she immediately paid for the engine and therefore never encountered a paywall when playing custom WADs.

that is what i thought was said. i found that rather confusing because it says that in the description on the discover store.

If you choose to not pay, you will have access to the full shareware episode, and the first level of any other WAD. Also, only the first two maps of the shareware will always have the extra features (lighting, 3D monsters, etc.). On any other map, each day, you will have about 2 minutes of gameplay with the extra features.

I agree. It would be nice is all of the respective files needed to help with the installation of wad files were already there. After all, we are paying for this game. Also, when I tried to download the addtional files from the devs site, the download's would not start. Is there a pblem at the site? I also think that having the ehelp sections baked into the game would also be useful. Jut a basic text reader with the raw txt files in the game would be great.

I also have say that I NEED the option to save the wad files my external USB. THe internal memory of the Ouya is pitiful, so this really needs to be fixed!

Still, it's one of the best FPS's on the Ouya right now and the controls work great!

I can save WADS to the external no problem, you just have to follow the correct file structure on the site I believe. Works fine for me. The extra files, I agree, should be there, but the official WADS I cannot see happening as they don't have license to distribute. I do agree though there should be a help section in game as well, as it would benefit a large amount of people who want to quickly read the HowTo without having to turn the game off and on again

    Hi,
can anyone tell me where i'm going wrong getting wads to run?
On my usb drive i have a folder called kokak/DoomGLES/

Into which i have placed: Doom.wad doom2.wad Tnt.wad Plutonia.wad (copied from steam files)
Also in the same folder i have placed a folder called newdoom_DDS inside this folder is a OpenGles2 folder and a MP3 folder.

I have also placed newtnt_DDs etc for the other 3 wads.

When i try to start the game the various wads are selectable, but when pressing OK the message (Please install open gl data) appears.
I have tried copying the files to internal storage, but the same message appears.

Am i missing something obvious. Any tips/help gratefully received.

Doom GLES requires some extra files related to GLES geometry for the maps. The DoomGLES web site has some ready-made files, but I'm not sure whether they work on the Steam WADs, which include some slight changes from the DOS versions. If not, the site also has tools for generating the files you need. You'll have to do the same thing for any additional PWADS you want to use.

The ready-made files that are available on Kokak's site work with the Steam WADs. Steam was my source for the original files and I've played through them all by now.

Good to know. I guess the updated sprites don't have any impact.
