Head of Marketing and Product Strategy heads to Shazam

Shazam has confirmed that Patricia Parra has joined the company in the role of chief marketing officer, reporting directly to CEO Rich Riley.
She has brought with her 15 years’ worth of experience in consumer marketing and digital brands and joins the company from OUYA where she held the same role. Before OUYA Parra worked with Hulu as head of content marketing, leading global brand strategies, prior to that she worked with HBO as part of the digital network distribution team.

    Another, possibly clearer article:

So the question is, what does this mean for Ouya and who will be replacing their CMO

Yeah not sure why but a lot of the articles about this are twisted. I think the Variety one I just added to the top is better

It looks like she has a big interest in taking part in the more startup phases of companies. Must thrive on that sort of excitement.

As for what it means for OUYA, we'll probably get to see the marketing go in a new direction. It might not be too radically different, but it likely won't be exactly the same.

That is if she is just leaving. Going by the articles, there's no telling if she is just leaving OUYA or if she's been gone some time already. It's just listed as the last position she's really held.

Regardless, all the best to her, as well as whoever is holding/will hold the OUYA CMO spot next.

Yeah, she sounds like a transient employee, like Muffin. Who only stay until the startup is established then move on to the next company. While that is fine and dandy, I can only imagine what it could look like on someone's resume.. especially if they don't stay for at least a year..

Depends on the position. What counts in the upper management echelon is how well they have laid down the rails for the company to drive on. If they continue to get work, it means they got a good recommendation or they have a good career "pedigree" (for lack of a better term) and their experience, reputation and knowledge is worth far more than how long they stay.

For example.. Say you own a game studio trying to get off the ground with games that boast bleeding edge 3D graphics for high end computers and VR. Would it be best to hire John Carmack, knowing he'll only be there for 6 months, but accomplish 2 years worth of work while he's there because of his depth of knowledge, or hiring some other guy for those 2 years to figure it all out?
