How is this less relevant than more than half the stories in this section? It's actually way more relevant because this is the first real numbers that have been released to the public. If this was about a great amount of sales everyone would love it and be patting themselves on the back.
Everyone knows regular fans don't go to the dev section. This is just a way to censor without looking like censoring. lol
If I'm looking to buy a console one thing that might factor in is potential of upcoming games. If something is going to influence potential upcoming gales as a potential buyer I want to know these things.
Maybe I already have an OUYA and am thinking about getting another one or selling my current one, I want to know how the OUYA is really doing and the chances of success.
Most devs have long ago worked out that in pure financial terms, OUYA isn't going to take them to the big time. In the case of Towerfall, being "the" game that OUYA was famous for certainly helped it when it came to other platforms, just as it helped OUYA. But there's no point in getting bitter over it.
The take-home message from Towerfall and OUYA is that the idea of a "killer app" being key to a platform's success is a bit of a myth. Or rather it's just one piece of the jigsaw when it comes to the overall perception consumers have. I think OUYA played that card just about right, but it wasn't enough to overcome other areas where OUYA failed to set consumer expectations.
Edit: Also, 7000 sales, especially at $15, is a metric-tonne compared to what the vast majority of indie games make (talking games just as good quality/fun/whatever other subjective measure you use)

You're asking a lot of questions that no one knows the answer to. Sure, the purpose of this forum is to discuss things OUYA-related, but when a member makes post after post rife with loaded questions that no one has the answer to, it just seems like argument for the sake of debate, and not discussion.

This news story is legit though. fireballs brought in numbers that Matt revealed himself and is questioning that. The fact itself.
There is some serious perspective lacking here.
1. We don't know how much the PS4 version made in sales, or unless there is a number I am unaware of.
2. 7000 copies on ~160k OUYAs? yeah that sounds reasonable. That is a conversion rate of 4%. Not everyone Likes Towerfall. On top of that the free to try portion was very generous. Towerfall overall grossed $500,000. Not just from PS4 but from all platforms.
3. What is 7000 * 15$ ? $105,000 gross. This doesn't include deductibles like the 500,000$ doesn't include deductible. so that is 1/5th of the overall revenue. That is alot! You can more or less say that PS4 made somewhere between 14,000 to 28,000 copies, out of the over 6million sold. While making the assumption PC made $0, that is a conversion rate of around ~0.2% and ~0.4%
OUYA's 4% is still larger than PS4s ~0.2% - ~0.4%. How's THAT for conversion rate
I didn't buy Towerfall, and I know many others didn't either. Not for us, and the lack of single player harms it. From what I heard, however, is that Towerfall is NOT the highest selling game. I believe it was another, similar thread that states Amazing Frog is the Highest selling game on the OUYA currently.
While Towerfall only made 7000 sales on OUYA, they made 20% of the overall gross revenue.

I hear you but you have to look at the time available and competition. Plus people who but the OUYA are more likely looking for indie games, a lot of PS4 owners aren't or it's secondary.
Anyway you slice it $100,000 isn't terrible for a indie game. My problem isn't really with towerfalls success or failures it's that it's one of OUYAs top game in sales not dollars brought in. If 7,000 sales in a year is amongest the best while being heavily promoted how much money did games that cost $2 and weren't promoted or favorited a lot bring in during that same span? $1,000 maybe $2,000?
This thread has nothing to do with the PS4 and everything to do with what kind of sales top OUYA games get.

You've made your point that you don't think this thread is deserving of the space it's taking up but I disagree on the grounds that discussion (positive or negative) is something to be made here on OUYAForum.
