    Same OUYAs, Different Behaviors, WHY??

I really like the OUYA concept as i loved Android from the begining because i really believe in the open source concept, but with the OUYA sometimes i fell a bit confused, lets see:

All we have one model of OUYA to choose, maybe internally there are a few minor hardware diferences (more memory) and couple of controller revisions but thats all.
Then why the results are so different between one console and other? I talk specifically about side load apps. I read here about users that can use MOGA emulation without flaws, mine refused to work and believe me that i have tried every posible instalation to no avail. The same applies for the rest, some guys are happy playing Crazy Taxi, others don´t (i don´t), Shadow blade, Asphalt, Reaper, ...the list goes on.

Even after the last Chupacabra update, my ES explorer has gone trash and refused to work again, no matter from where i tried to start it, but others has applied the update and ES still Works, and before the update other guys told me that ES only could be started only from XBMC but mine has runned from make menu, i think all you get the idea.
And my Astro file explorer was also died so now i use File Manager, wich is average but the only that runs in my OUYA.

The question is: All we have the same hardware, the same Root my OUYA, the same Xposed Framework, the same OUYA Mod Collection and the same Play Store (and the same versions of each them) but the results are unexpected and all ends in a try for yourself exercise.

I have letterbombed at least 20 Wiis in my life and the hardware seems to respond in a more uniform way, even considering that stupid PAL and NTSC question, that don´t affects the OUYA at all.

Someone knows how many hardware revisions are in the Street today? Im interested in track and find some pattern that can help us to know what can or can´t be done in our machines.

Still loves the OUYA, great machine, great concept.

I'm not sure but I definitely agree. I am still using ES file explorer with no issues. I have no stutter or crash from XBMC when others do. Its odd; I guess there wasn't really someone watching these things get made so there is a lot of difference between quality. That or there really are hardware revisions that they just didn't tell us about. Either one wouldn't surprise me. Or even if they have multiple versions and they are all test platforms.

1 note. Shadow Blade is on the Official OUYA store, try that. There is also FilePwn? Why try things outside of Discover when there are things that could quite possibly suit your fancy?

    2. Sideloading/modding/haxxoring is an unsupported thing (no matter how many people like to try to say otherwise) and so you are going to get varying results. You may be able to find someone to help you, but it is just something to keep in mind. This being due to different verisons, different iterations, and no control by OUYA inc. you'll never really know what version of the apk you have compared to others (could be 1.04, or it could be 1.04abq or whatever). The issue may not even be hardware related (doesn't sound like it).

The hardware revisions out there are the following:

    Kickstarter original
    Kickstarter Limited
    Retail Original
    Special Edition White
    Special Edition Black

I disagree. You are talking about sideloading and others things that require root access. There is no guarantee at all that those things would work as well as official firmware (which is still buggy sometimes). So the best you can do is to make CWM backups on a regular basis and when your console starts acting too wonky, you just go back to a precedent state.

@Kaimega: If you had ever used ES explorer on Ouya you would have never thought of FilePwn as a possible replacement for it.

What you say its true, but agree with me that sideloading its a strong point for OUYA users (and the only way to get some functions). And respect to filepwn, it does what promise but lacks many features llike unpacking of zip and rar, apk backup, and so on. But for sure i have it installed for fast simple operations.

And even in the OUYA interface, when you enter in the MAKE menu you get a brief explanation of what MAKE is made for and what sideloading is, so OUYA creators are well aware of this (in fact, they could simply erase the whole MAKE menú and the people that don´t sideload will never notice).
