    Ways to Help Ouya

There has been a lot of talk about what Ouya should be doing to help itself lately. That's all fair enough, but

What can we do to help Ouya?.

Basically I've started this thread to farm ideas from the forum community on ways we can help Ouya out. Whether that's ideas on marketing Ouya via social media to any other idea that benefits Ouya.

So if you've got an idea to help the company out, post them in this thread.

To start the ball rolling, here's my thought on what can help Ouya. Basically, Ouya's sold through retailers like Amazon etc do not get Ouya anywhere near the dollars they do via Ouya's direct sales via Ouya.tv. For example it's normal for retailers to buy merchandise for %30 below retail, which means Ouyas bought via Amazon for example would only bring in $70 to Ouya via Amazon. As a way to help Ouya out, if your thinking about buying an Ouya , and if you can do it, buy directly from Ouya.tv. It will help them out greatly.

    Now for everyone else's ideas

I go onto Twitter #gaming and #ouya and basically promote it, answer questions I find on there about Ouya, I also look out for devs speaking about Android and tell them about dev for Ouya and how it is pretty simple. Would be even better if people spent time doing that too.

Secondly and what I am really pushing right now is searching for games made with Multimedia Fusion and trying to get them to do an Ouya port as it is just a case of getting the Android Exporter and following Sparckmans tutorial.

    Anyway that's what I do.

I agree with the twitter thing.
Devs: if you have positive experiences with the platform, share them!
Gamers: Tell people what games you're playing at the moment!

Biggest problem I see for Ouya is many people still have no idea what it is.

As a player, asking for porting (or developing directly for) games we like on Ouya console directly to devs. It seems that some of them avoid mentioning Ouya versions of their games or cancel the development probably due to lack of shown interest by Ouya owners or hate from other gamers. It won't solve all Ouya's (inc., console...) problems but it's A way to help. Let our voice be heard for good games.
Most of the time I keep my OUYA offline: please consider it before inserting a phone-home/always online DRM in your game. If you still plan to do so, please declare it. You don't want pirates, I don't want to be frauded.

Show your enthusiasm. Make sure your friends, family, coworkers etc. all know that you are enjoying the system. Tell them (without being a pest) about the best games you've discovered lately. Better yet, link them to videos of the ones you think they'd enjoy. Better still, have them sit down and play. Be specific! The primary mover of consoles isn't "games" as an abstract concept of something the system has or does. What sells systems is knowledge of specific games that people want to play. Find those games and get the word out about those games. That will in turn help OUYA.

Not likely to happen but what would be extremely cool and helpful is if we all started a donation fund, set goals by $5,000 and every time we as a forum raise $5,000 we vote and donate it through kickstarter or something to exciting games that might come to the OUYA.

I think if we can do that once or twice and show we are serious maybe we could get OUYA inc to match.

I actually like that too! Good idea! I got my mate to buy an Ouya straight away and now he is on my team as a sound man at Monster Finger Games and I'm currently working on getting my bro in law to buy one as we keep having game nights playing on the couch and we have a right laugh. Slowly Slowly catchy monkey.

There is still cash in the FTG fund. My suggestion way back when was that the cash should be split up.
If it's $1M then you do say (5) $100,000 to big games if there were that many $400,000 to games between $10-50,000 and then $100,000 to games between $5-10,000. This was before it got underway but I guess they were set. Kind of the same idea.

But for some reason there are people who don't back Kickstarters and wait for the game to be out, even if they want the game, not sure that makes sense to me. I never used to say if I backed anything because for some reason as a moderator I'm not treated as just another forum member, I know I may have some mystical powers or whatever but I'm still just a guy. But I do back games if they look like they have their act together. If you want content you're going to have to try to help in some way and Kickstarter is one. If a budget looks way out of whack then I don't but if it looks realistic and I think it'll be a good game then I'm in.

Some of you already know I've basically become a one man army on trying to get games over (or an ombudsman as some have called me)
Everyday between tweets and emails, I try to get at least 10 different games, when someone even mentions a game here, I email or tweet. Yesterday alone I did 22 by the end of the day. I try to include @playouya and hope whoever is running the account would retweet or respond in some way. (Hi Telltale, I'm ready for Day 6 of emailing you now )
Also, the interviews of developers and soon other personalities to bring a little more attention.
Try to help rally people here for things, some went somewhere, some didn't.
I try to help developers with questions and info when I can, check the developer section. Especially if it's Unity.
Also trying to get some XNA games ported directly and not just ask them to do it.
Even here on the forum trying to get people involved and posting and not just lurking because you never know where the next good idea may come from.
If I see a Kickstarter that looks like it would work on Ouya, I send them a message and invite them here.
I definitely get the word out.

Some of these are things others can do or help with too but it's all an effort to help build Ouya's profile.

I was always a rage against the machine type anyway. Still believe in the revolution even if it's kind of been stepped on.
