Ouya freezes coming out of sleep mode

I've been having this issue for some time. When I turn on the controller to wake up my Ouya, the Ouya appears to freeze. The display wakes up to the system menu, the controller indicates that it is paired, however, I cannot move the cursor and no button inputs are recognized.

The only way that I have been able to resolve this is to disconnect the console from power and reboot. Putting the console back to sleep and rewaking with the top button results in the same frozen screen. Powering down the controller and powering it back up results in a failure to pair, screen reflects no change.

    Thank you for any suggestions

You could always turn off the ouya all the time. That's what I do. Then, if the official controller won't pair, just replace it with a wired ps3 controller. This should fix that problem. Your next problem would then be that some games won't work with the ps3 controller.

Powering down fully when the console is not being used would be preferable. Is there any way to power down aside from unplugging the console?

Hold the power button for like 3 seconds and it gives you a Shut Down prompt. Click ok and it shuts down. You risk damage to the device by unplugging it when on.

Thanks! somehow I forgot about that

But wait! if the console is not responding to input, how can I click "ok"??

Well with your other problems I would contact support and get a ticket placed so they can fix it. Sleep mode issues are often a driver or hardware issues so Ouya could probably help you there. Shut down would only help on a system that is not already damaged I guess.
