Is there a way to thank someone who has written a good post?

You can click the little green + button at the top right of their post to let them know that you found their contribution to be helpful. This adds to their reputation and fills up that little green bar under their forum portrait and makes them feel awesome. That's as close as we have to a "thanks" button.

Or you can hit the little black star at the bottom of their post, under their avatar. You can also write a message to them that way. It's right next to "Send PM" and the report triangle.
