I played this a bit last night and completed the free section just now.
The game is very much what I expected; a gauntlet-style game but with the right stick used for aiming. Is it fair to assume that is what you were going for? In general the controls work great, I dig the graphics, and am curious about what the other levels are like (note to developers: include teasers about what to expect when the game is purchased.) Overall I really like what you are going for and am surprised no one else is checking it out but unfortunately I do have a few small issues and one major issue with the game...
Small Issues:
1. There should be some music during actual gameplay (or at least some ambient sound effects). I dig the music in the opening, at the very least you could just keep that playing in the background.
2. The tutorial was worded somewhat oddly, I didn't realize you could shoot using the left stick until I randomly tried it.
3. The right hand/left hand gun switching is a little awkward and doesn't really add much.
Big Issue: Balance in Gameplay
The player can take a ton of hits before dying and so can the monsters. You can walk through a swarm of monsters and barely get hurt so there's no real point in fighting them. In almost every case it makes more sense to rush through a level taking hits from the swarms than to fight them in any tactical/strategic way. A game like this needs moments where "hit and run" makes more sense than "plow through like a tank". I would suggest lowering the number of hits both the player and the enemies can take so the player has a better chance of taking down the monsters and presents a real danger to mindlessly charging into battle knowing there's no way they can hit you enough to kill you.
I'll keep my eye on this one and hopefully it generates some more interest because there's a lot to like going on here.
