...What? If you and the other members are man-whoring for free then this forum really has fuckin' issues. In any case, I might do what Steven does in the end which is make an exception to only the must have games to me. Ones that I know are must haves.

TinyPixxels: Thank you for your well thought out response. I don't agree with you 100%, but i apreciate you taking the time to post. That said, onto my post:

OUYA, Inc. seems surprised by the backlash from this decision--even though it betrayed one of the core concepts of what OUYA was supposed to be about.

This, after the FtGF debacle (which I admit, OUYA did rectify...but they shouldn't have had to do any rectifying--the potential to game the system was OBVIOUS) and OUYA's other very public missteps makes me think they were probably smart enough to not just go into this blind. But I bet they only polled a very select group of developers and NOT players about this. If they had asked players, this backlash wouldn't have come as such a surprise.

But, here we are. OUYA, Inc has burned the last of their trust capital. Maybe they'll survive, but the revolution? It's dead.

It's still a requirement for me. If someone wants my money then a demo is required. Else I'll buy someone else's game that does have a demo.

I personally, am going to make an exception. If it's something that I know I'm going to want, I'm going to buy it straight-out regardless.

Just poking in to toss out a contribution that's going to get lost in the shuffle.

The only developers that I would buy from without a demo are Juicy Beast, Square-Enix, Nooskewl, and Jayenkai. To everyone else? Good luck seeing a penny from me if you opt to publish without a trial.

What about Dani_SF's Bloom: Memories and Grantmoore3d's two projects? I hate the term more than I hate sugar free candy, but if there ever was a set of triple "A" games then it's the stuff from them.

The games look great, but I'm only going to give my attention to devs who have already proven that it's possible to make a good demo and a great game. This whole process has effectively slammed the door shut in the face of other developers to me.

Well see, part of the reason they're waiving this requirement is so the big guns will be attracted to it now, right? (Correct me if I'm wrong, please). Even simple ports of certain games, I'll buy without demo-ing first. Capcom wants to give me Street Fighter? Done. Mega Man? Depending on which one(s), but most likely, yes. Namco comes in with some Pac-Man love? You bet your sweet ass. Sega comes back to us with the Android port of Sonic with Tails and Knux playable? Finally givin' Psycho Fox some portin' love? Streets of Rage 2? I've bought more copies of SoR2 than any man ever should. I'll still continue buying it. As unlikely as it is, if Nintendo found its way to the console and gave us Super Smash Bros., I would flip out. I bought two copies of that game; one to play, and one to have sex with. An Ouya port would be our freakin' love child.

Then there's games that all I have to do is see the footage and I know that I like it enough to buy. Duck Game is an excellent example of that. I will straight up buy that shiz on day one, even if I end up having to eat nothing but ramen for a week.

If SEGA gives us another Sonic game I'm not buying it. I bought Sonic 4 Episode II and it's laggy to the point where I can't beat the snow level. And that was with me knowing that it was laggy in the first place, I had hopes that they'd fix it and they didn't. If there's no demo for me to try their broken games, there's even less of a chance that I'll buy it.

Dawg Sonic 4 was a mess to begin with. Sonic CD's where it's at.
