Pissing off the customer who gives you the money does not help.
Any change that is made is going to piss someone off. They have to do what they think is best for their customer base as a whole, and what they think will attract more developers, and more games. There will still be plenty of developers offering free games, free to try games, and demos. That model will still be the best one for a majority of developers, I'm guessing. It will just allow other developers that would not have ported their games to OUYA, or would not have made an exclusive OUYA game decide that this new model works for them. In the long run it will be very beneficial to gamers and developers.
