But, I'm still mulling it over in my head! I feel the main reason the Kickstarter failed because I advertised the game that was possible with the funds I was asking for, rather than asking people to help me make the game I REALLY wanted. Your kickstarter did pretty well for not reaching your goal. I think just having a better managed kickstarter could be enough to succeed. But, you or someone might need to make a lot more updates, spend a lot more time reaching out to gaming press and promoting on social media platforms, etc. And of course additional features never hurt.

Somewhere around here there's a thread with kickstarter tips, if you haven't read it, there might be some info in there that can really help make a difference next time around.

Sure it could be original, could attract people.

I imagine half game with you fighting for the death of the king, slashing brave knights (mid-game boss: the King), and the last half of the game you'll fight demons, trying to conquer the control of the dark side... final boss could be Satan (or similar)
I like that idea! Sounds like one of the main inspirations for the game, EvilQuest. But it doesn't capture the mood I'd like for this game. Again, it sounds like you're talking about a Diablo clone and that's not what I want. But, the concept is useful even for something other than a Diablo clone, so I'll definitely keep it in mind!

Trust me, I did all I could with the Kickstarter given the situation, and yes, I've followed many tips on this forum and other places around the internet. There are SO many great resources out there and I wouldn't have gotten even close to what I did had I not prepared myself before starting! I emailed dozens of game press sites, none of which responded. This is most notably because the game couldn't advertise itself as special, because it doesn't have anything special about it, which goes along with what I said before. I did try to keep up on social networking sites, but I am not very good at it yet...but I'm getting there! Also, I had to get an emergency surgery right in the middle of it, which prevented me from being able to work on the Kickstarter at all, much less write updates and create hype for it. There are also things I could have done if I had a little bit of cash, which I didn't at the time (I had just lost my main contract client). But, I still attribute most of its failure to be because of generic name, setting, and game mechanics, and not showing off things like puzzles, spells, etc (which I don't have ready).
