    Soliloquy of a Madman

    I've started to work on a game which I intend to release on the OUYA (as well as PC, MAC, Linux and maybe Android/iOS) and figured it would be nice to start a thread here! I don't log in to the forum terribly often, but I will try to make posts here every now and then, but if you want to follow the progress more closely please check out my production blog.

    Soliloquy of a Madman
    Within the depths of his own mind, a man seeks an answer to a burning desire. Facing fragmented thoughts, haunting memories and reflection of self, the actions he chooses will lead to enlightenment or self-destruction.

    The game will play like a typical hack and slash but I'm hoping to create a unique visual experience which will change depending on your actions. I have a bunch of creative elements in the works but I'm hoping to push it beyond a simple good/evil mechanic and instead express a message through a mix of visuals and game mechanics. It's my first real venture into the world of indie game development, so it's going to be fun to see what I can do!

    So where am I right now? Well I got some wicked concepts from my concept artist and have done a few technical tests for being able to have the character morph between the normal, enlightened and self-destructive states. Given the whole "Create" game jam thing, I'm pushing hard to finish up an early prototype focussed on the character to submit. I have the basics of what I want to accomplish figured out, just a matter of pushing myself to create the necessary art to put it together in time!

    Finished up the base mesh and started sculpting / texturing the main character, I'm aiming to finish up either the sculpting or preparing the rigging for animation tonight.

    Also, if anyone reading this happens to have a dev-console and would be willing to do me a huge favour, it would be awesome if I could send you a copy of the prototype early next week just to make sure I have set up the controls properly and nothing fishy is happening. It's kind of difficult to build an OUYA-ready game without knowing if what you are coding actually works! I promise to give you a free copy of the game when it's done and any help I can spare in return.

    Was going to write a blog post tonight, but the last evening of crunching out this prototype for the OUYA Create game jam has left me a little tired (will write one tomorrow). For now, enjoy the trailer video I threw together for it!
