Game froze my console on start-up.
Hi Everybody!
I just published my first game on Ouya; Craftfield. Craftfield is a voxelgame. Well, there's still lots to be done for it to be a proper game. At the moment the core engine is finished and not a lot else. You can build stuff and destroy stuff.
Controls:
O is placing the selected voxel. Long press O to place 5x5x5 grid around the player.
A is destroying a voxel below the player. Long press A to destroy a 5x5x5 grid around the player.
U is jumping. Hold U to jump sky high and move quicker.
Game specifics:
The game allows for rotation beyond 360 degrees. This is hard to explain, but essentially you can compare it to a side scrolling shooter being wrapped around the camera in 3D. *Mind blown* Just try it out! It's 100% free at the moment. The world is generated with noise not much unlike Minecraft and other crafting games. There's exactly 2^32 * 90 degrees to explore, with each 90 degrees having 64x64x64 voxels! That is 4294967296 * 90 = 386547056640 degrees and 4294967296 * 64 * 64 *64 = 1125899906842624 voxels
To come:
- Coop; soon! I've already implemented it, but it only works with Ouya controllers at the moment (of which I only have 1, so I can't test).
- Sharing patches of land online.
- Fighting enemies.
- Voxels with special abilities.
- Powerups.
Just a note: don't be sad if the coming updates might ruin your levelsThis might be uncircumventable..
Greetings,
The one man Craftfield team, aka Kajos

Eek man, thats certainly unlucky...
I just made ma Houze doods
Well its just seen like that, it would be cool to implement a perspective mover, that way you can actually rotate and finish crafting.
And..was that Flipboard Icon? Thst black yellowblue thing looks like Sony too hahaha
Currently Owning (bought) :
That feels very limiting to me, I actually love the kind of movement and momentum you get in this which contrasts with other games of a similar genre however the camera bewilders and frustrates me. I'm a fool so I don't understand the logic cementing this mechanic, but I have to say that if it is even remotely imaginably possible to change then the game would immediately feel more fun and intuitive.
Really though, I'm looking forward to where this goes no matter what you end up doing with it.
Thanks for the compliment. The way the camera works now makes sure the engine doesn't have to do a lot of work (somewhat similar to static/dynamic cubemapping for those interested) but yeah, the downside is that the camera cant translate. However, what I might be able to do, is to make the camera move in closer to the ball for further distances (edit: seems a bit nicer now that ive implemented it). I will look into it and see if it helps. Either way, the lightness of the engine as it is, doesn't do much yet (except for the nice shadows, which you typically dont see in voxel games on mobile and the 60 fps framerate), but in the future I could add armies of enemies or big amounts of particles. So theres room for play, which I kinda like; it might get a creative twist, instead of being a typical miner game its able to be much more.

I can't help but compare it to minecraft and the like though so pardon my bemusement that by design every map will be a pit. That already sounds a lot better though, I'll suspend further judgement until I can see it in action.
I like that you're being economic with the resources you have and leaving room for fun stuff later on.
Version 1.1 has just been published.
Things added:
- Coop (experimental)
- Different gamesaves
- Menu: change fov, resolution, zoom and selection of gamesaves
- Some minor fixes and what not
I would love peoples feedback on the coop. I havent been able to try it out, because I don't have any other controllers and my keyboard doesn't seem to work either with Ouya.
Just tried out the new update, sad to say that it really glitched out for me. It didn't respond to my xbox tapping away trying to join but spawned infinite bouncy balls whenever I tried placing blocks with my standard ouya controller. Really impressed with the framerate with about 50 of them to be honest, I can see the product of your hard decisions. Sadly the zoom thing broke on me as well, seemed to work for a second but zapped back without warning soon after and I couldn't get it working again after that.
