    Only One - RIGStudios

Only One is a short text game experience, with an emphasis on story telling.

The game can be downloaded from here, or though the Ouya itself in the role-play or short on time sections.

It's as much of an experiment as a game, so I would love to hear some feedback.

It is also RIGStudios first game, with many more to come in the future.

Only One is currently available, with the main story being free.

A short epilogue is unlocked for anyone who purchases the game as a thank you for supporting us.

Thank you everyone for all the interest for the game so far, and if there are any questions I will try and answer them here.

I was expecting a pretentious game about suicide. What I got was a simplified version of Heavy Rain with Russian roulette. My feelings can best be described by the following video, which I may remake to be titled "Press O to Think"

Thanks for having a look at the game Hugo.

I have had some varying results when I was testing it. The experience seems to be based very much on what mood the player is in when playing it.

It is a short game so it can be a bit difficult to ease the player into the right mood.

Also I would love to see that song.

    ATTENTION: SPOILERS

The game starts out with the guy saying "Jasmine darling, I am coming". I instantly got the impression that he was going to follow her in death. But we soon find out she is being held captive. If you were not trying to force this assumption then perhaps "Jasmine darling, I am doing this for you" would be more fitting? Written any other way would further make it feel like death is the only outcome. IE "Jasmine darling, I'll be with you soon" "Jasmine darling, we will be together soon" "Jasmine darling, this will save us". etc...

There is a typo after he spins the barrel. "..each click feels like my heat skipped a beat"

I was able to reach two endings in under 5 minutes. What exactly does the $1.99 purchase give us?

    Hay Another World

Thanks for catching the spelling error, I'll fix that in the next update.

Your right, that line in the game does suggest something sinister, which was my intention. Your replacement also would fit as well, however at the beginning of the game where the player doesn't quite know what is going on, its important to try get them into the right mood for the rest of the game. I understand what you mean, but think about it as a misleading story hook rather than it alluding to something later on.

The playtime is something else that seems to vary from person to person. All i can suggest is to read everything and try and think about what it would be like if you where in that position. I made the character androgynous so that anyone can try on the shoes, and the short bursts of text and fades are meant to give players time to think. As a wise man once said "Its the journey, and not the destination that counts", or something like that.

The epilogue is a short extension of each of the four endings, its meant more of a thank you for purchasing the game and supporting the studio. I was looking at the price of other real short stories when setting the price for the game. The price I was hoping to go for was in pounds as I'm from the uk, but the Ouya has preset dollar prices so the closes i could make it was $2.
I would be happy to do it for $1.50 if there was an option (nudge nudge, wink wink Ouya staff).

Thanks DrunkPunk for quoting the first post, have a drink on me.
