    A.D. 2442 - Burning Thumb Software

Our newest game, A.D. 2442, offers the fun of on old schools 2D top down shooter combined with excitement of 3D levels. The pace start out slow and easy so that you can enjoy the game play, and the outstanding music of Kevin Macleod, and then the action speeds up until you are facing squadrons of enemy fighters. The game has 7 levels, but that is just a start. We plan to add new levels and fun in the coming weeks. Please send us suggestions for what you would like to see in the game as it really is a work in progress that you can influence with your suggestions.

I'd like to chose if playing it 2d or 2.5d.
However, the game seems slow, and the collisions not perfect (talking about 2.5d level)

I uninstalled it, because the global feeling isn't "good enough".... you should work on it a lot

Bought it cause I like the idea. I would also like to choose and the collisions do need work. Also the laser is much to thin at least in the 2D mode.

We have a new update coming next week.

The colliders have been adjusted - hopefully they are better now - and the laser has been made wider. We have also added a boss level with a mother ship.

With respect to 2D or 3D we can add an option to play in all 2D or all 3D or mixed 2D+3D (i.e. as it is now) - is that what you would like ?

    cool thing

Sure I'll see your next works on the game.
For "slow" I mean the pace, the shoot timing, seems like the game lacks of vitality (from what I tried in the demo).

I'll see what can be done to give the first couple of levels a faster pace. I have a couple of ideas on what can be done.

I don't like the font used in the game, it looks too simple and doesn't match. The 'bloop' sound effect from when you collect a crystal can be improved. It reminds me of a retro game, and this game doesn't feel retro. It doesn't really add up with the environment. I played up to the 3D part, right when the game switches dimensions, and throughout the game I couldn't find a pause menu. I'd like to suggest the OUYA home button to be the pause menu.

Another idea is to change ship designs for each damage that you take. Three hits gives you a Game Over, the first two times you get hit, the ship can look damaged. Maybe a few sparks and smoke can be shown coming out of the ship... That's all I have in mind for now...

    Thanks for the feedback.

We can definitely change the bloop -- we were going for a retro feel with a modern twist so some things were mean't to feel retro. Maybe its time to forget that idea and change the games category -- any suggestions on that?

For pause, I'm curious, I thought that it was standard for double press of the home button to pause any game. Did you try that? Is there a reason you don't like to do the double press (I think it is a consistent method across the system to pause any game)?

Finally for damage, great idea, it can't be in the next update - coming out this week - but definitely in the one after that we will indicate ship damage.

Thanks -- looking forward to more feedback.

I guess it makes sense if you're using the OUYA's home menu for the pause menu. I was looking for a pause menu like in other games, where you get an option for settings, restart level, go back to main menu, etc.

I get it. We plan to add this but because the system provides something that is good enough for the current state of the game its not there yet.
