You can't just slap Mario on a touch screen phone because the controls just don't translate (and Nintendo make the sort of games where that really does make a world of difference). But it works in reverse as well. An Apple TV with Temple Run and Angry Birds won't be an automatic win. Won't be a traditional console killer, because those games really just aren't the sort you'd sit down to play on your TV (especially when you already have them on your phone/tablet)
But, if say Amazon come out with a really good microconsole, plus have the marketing muscle behind it, then later follow OUYA and start integrating that with TV sets, OUYA having a year's head start won't be enough. I rather suspect OUYA, as well as seeing the opportunity to ship with other hardware come sooner than they anticipated, also see Amazon and Google in their rear view mirror, and need to take the jump now
