I have read higher numbers like 90% and so forth but are these percentages even real measurements of people's subjective experiences? There are currently 674 games/apps. You would have to play them all, replay ones that get updates because they could get improvements to change your mind, make a list of liked and not liked, and then when completely done calculate the percentage. After that the percentage would only be accurate until the next new release or update. I don't think they are subjective. I think they are completely made up.

If there are more than 600 games and I like... about 30, that's 5%. That said I love those 30, and I believe that proportion is set to increase exponentially as I believe we're seeing a higher standard with new releases than before and we have more than a couple of amazing games we know are on their way. That said, I'm sure there are some hidden gems that are currently out that I haven't encountered yet - as I sure as hell haven't played every single one.

I don't want to be the one always having a go at OUYA marketing, but it was very middle-of-the-road. So OUYA's previous attempts to be "out there" have really not worked, but the ad seemed to lack a hook or any sort of character. It was a bit forgettable.

I also liked the sketch-style graphics, but I think they should have put the games front and centre at the start, then brought it back to being about the console.

It doesn't really leverage its USPs either. "It's got shooters" just like every other gaming device on the planet, and unlike most of them, the shooters aren't the CoDs or Battlefields that consumers recognise. In any case, people who like shooters are already busy playing them on PS4/X1. That's really not where the strengths of OUYA's library of games lies.

Moreover, there's no real cohesive feel to the games shown. It's not like they're all action packed, adrenaline charged, set to a thumping metal/dubstep soundtrack. Nor are the games all shown as bright, cartoony kid-friendly fare (with twee music tinkling in the background).

If "quirky" is what OUYA really is all about, push that: "Jump of cliffs! (bombsquad) Fling Frogs! (Amazing Frog) Date Nuclear Missiles (Clark)"

As well, ads that go after the price angle are really a thing unto themselves. Either your main focus is on the price, or you don't mention it at all.

Or how about this for an idea:

"Good things come in small packages:"

[person 1] pulls an OUYA out of their backpack.
[person 2] pulls a controller from out under their jumper
[person 3] pulls a controller from out of their sock
[person 4] has a massive TV screen sticking out of their jeans back pocket

People playing games on the OUYA

People all waving goodbye to each other at the end. Person with the TV in their pocket, the TV smacks into the door frame on their way out. OUYA logo over the screen somewhere

    Ad ends.

    Optional 10 second epilogue:

"... the price is small too!"

$99 price as text on screen, logos of stores where you can buy it

    James Andrew Coote,

I thought you would love the commercial because you always talk about one of the strengths being couch gaming. It shows the whole spectrum of that. At first it just shows one of the people playing(single player), then they added another one of those people(two player), and then it showed the whole group with party food on the coffee table(four player). That may not be something obvious and you may have to watch it again and be looking for it to notice but that is how subliminal messages work. People do most of their thinking subconsciously. They may not be consciously thinking,"I prefer single player.","I prefer two player." and/or ,"I prefer playing with a whole group.", but all those preferences would be triggered affecting their choice even if they don't consciously realize it. A potential customer may see OUYA.tv at the bottom while watching with their smart phone/tablet or laptop near by, since they are a gamer and it is completely new to them they may check out the site just out of curiosity, and then end up buying The Couch Gamer Bundle with custom faceplates. They would be completely unaware that one of the reasons they added custom faceplates is because it kept showing a yellow one throughout the commercial in relation to regular controllers with the last scene showing everyone holding regular controllers with the yellow one laying on the coffee table but their subconscious would know. So, the ad has a hook there because the creator of it seems to have a good understanding of psychology and product placement to add underlying messages to BAWB's verbal message of over 600 free to try games with something for everyone for the low price of $99.

well it's got much more class to it than that puke one. Nothing terribly memorable from it though but it gets the name into the living room so that can't be a bad thing.

Then with that percentage there are currently around 135 games you would believe are worth mentioning(I included apps and emulators in the math because taking the time to subtract them out would take too long and the point could still be made if the number is really around 100). That is quite a lot of games and by the time you would completely play through them all there would be more games added that may also be games you would feel are worth mentioning. And you are just one person. My percentage could be completely different and include different games. Now extrapolate that to everyone and you get,"With over 600 games ,free to try, there's something for everyone." It doesn't claim that every game everyone would love. It is making the claim that there are so many games with so much variety that there is something for everyone.
