That's nice too :)
We will succeed this next time. I now we will.
Kickstarter is relaunching this month. Get your wallets ready now!
The video linked in the latest Kickstarter update looks absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to back this one again.
Hmm, I am ready to plop something towards this too. The Ouya desperately needs a really well done racer. Not saying there aren't a couple fun ones, but it really needs something with a little more OOMPH behind it right now.
the Wii U success of Mario Kart 8 shows that people want that kind of game.
My old comments about using a 3D engine for a more attractive result... months later, honestly, I understand I could've been wrong.
OUYA seems not enough powerful for a clearly "good looking" 3D racing game, and games like Bears can't Drift shows HOW difficult is to work on a similar project.
So...at last, the "2D mode7 engine" could be the right choice.
I hope you best luck for the new Kickstarter "adventure".
Except it is a 3D engine and they are mimicing Mode 7 style. As someone who works in 3D I can easily say the OUYA can handle more than enough IF YOU KNOW HOW TO WORK IT. And to compare to Bears shouldn't even be done as Bears isn't a complete game. (Far From, infact as developers are still adding more to it).
He's doing the game "Mode 7" style because that's what he wants to do, not because of hardware limitations. It's a stylistic choice.
But honestly, it might be a smart one. There's no way that basically one guy can do a fully 3D racing game in a reasonable amount of time and turn out anything that's going to compare favorably with any recent Mario Kart game. So where would the market be, really? But he obviously can make a pseudo-3D game that compares very favorably to the original Mario Kart. For that there is clearly a very small market, but it's a market he'll have all to himself.
