Ever want to play soccer with cars?

Soc-Car is a local multi-player game where you control cars playing a game of soccer. It's 2-4 players (You can also mess around with one player)

This game in a previous form ("Adventure Ball") won "Community Choice Award" at the 2013 Dublin Gamecraft

Its a top-down 2D game written with Libgdx and Box2d.

Play as one of 10 countries each with their own unique style of car.

The game is 100% free, < 5Mb in size and is great little fun multi-player game, so please try it if you have some friends over!

The game supports Ouya, Xbox and Ps3 controllers.

You can connect your phones or tablets to be used as extra controllers without the need for an external application, using "More Controllers Please", a html5 based controller hosted directly in the game. (This library is created by me and is completely free and open for anyone to use, if you are interested in adding it to your game please get in touch).

This is my first ever game to create, and I would appreciate any feedback, suggestions bugs etc.

I will be adding AI at some stage, but I really think the magic of this game is playing with people! I hope you like it!

I have only tried it with single player (I live alone) but the first thing I noticed was that my car was constantly in reverse. Is this intentional? I found it to be very distracting and was not expecting it. Also I find turning to be very non-intuitive. A lot of the times I move the joystick to the left but the car turns right - from my perspective. I understand why turning works the way it does, but I found myself constantly driving mindlessly and hopelessly trying to hit the ball because I was turning in the opposite direction I thought I was going to. Maybe change the way turning works (or offer an option) so that it turns based on the player's perspective instead of the car's?

Otherwise it's a fun game and I'd like to try it with some friends when they come over.

Hey, thank you for taking the time to both try the game and to provide feedback here, I really appreciate it.

Firstly I think it's clear I need to add computer players, I will hopefully add some ai for the next release.

No it is not intentional, but you are not the first to mention it to me either. I assume you are using an ouya controller? Originally only "A" reversed, but some demo feedback I got was to add trigger support. So I added it, but was not happy with how it worked with my ouya controller. Sometimes the last update it would send is "I'm XX% away from the rest" I thought it would only effect people using the triggers it even has quite a large deadzone (20%) but I guess it's not enough.
Were you using triggers or buttons to drive? If you wouldn't mind could you try playing again and whenever the car is stuck reversing press and slowly release the left trigger, just to confirm that's what is causing the problem.

100% understand you, a friend of mine who was playing it had the same issue with turning, obviously neither of you played micro machines growing up! :p I had intended to add an option to make it selectable but to be honest I forgot about it. I will try add it, should not be a problem.

It looks interesting though. Free and multiplayer is always a good combination on the Ouya for me.

i had the reverse problem aswell... car kept going reverse and i have to keep pulsing the accel button to stay put

While this is fun and all, it does become a bit repetitive.
Maybe add some powerups or make the cars destructible and stuff.

Didn't try the more controllers though

The game is AWESOME!!

Just a few things, number the car of the team (they look the same, just a edited number on the top of the cars would be fine), an option to change the friction of the ball and the velocity of the cars (backward should be quicker than the normal), we play this game for about 1h with my friends!!! please update it! ;)

Another things (just a minor thing), can you add the U button for reverse? :)
