Jesse, I am going to have to bet that your memory on the original ouya was failing. I wouldn't be offended if it turned out Nostalgia was failing, but Filepwn is solid app and I have never seen it have the problems you describe.. I have opened massive directories with it with a little lag. I have had Nostalgia directories with more than 2000 dummy rom files for testing fetching and it never had a problem. Well ... it had problems but I fixed those lol. That was months ago. Glad the problem has been resolved though. Thanks for following up.

Is there a way to have nostalgia ignore "The" when sorting?

That was bugging me too. Already fixed in the version that is going out on thursday.

Hey. I'm new to Ouya, and yours was the first program I bought. Forgive me if this has been answered/is common knowledge, but does Nostalgia require an internet connection? When I'm disconnected from the network it immediately drops me back to the Ouya menu.

I guess I understand if this is by design (as a form of legitimacy checking), but it kind of breaks things when you want to take the Ouya somewhere without a connection. I had intentions of keeping the system disconnected so the kids can't accidentally buy stuff.

Again, I'm new to Ouya in general, and I don't even know if this is something the system itself mandates. I only purchased one other paid app and it runs just fine disconnected, so I don't know.

Nostalgia's a great program, certainly worth the low price, but it'd be a shame if I can't use it.

That is definitely not how it should behave. I will look into it. You need an internet connection for fetches and to purchase the full version but other than that it shouldnt matter

Hmmm. Well, I don't know what I'm doing differently, but it's working now. It's pretty strange. Last night I purchased the program, set up my emulators, fetched all the metadata, and then deleted the network connection info, and Nostalgia stopped working. It would start up, show the loading screen, then crash back to the Play menu.

I reset the system a couple times, which changed nothing, then I figured it must be the internet, so I hooked it back up, and then Nostalgia ran just fine. Now I test it again with the network connection deleted and it runs no problem.

I hate crying Wolf, but I guess I was experiencing some unrelated crash?

It could still possibly be on my side. I havent found it yet but good to know you are back up and running

Having a problem with my covers disappearing. They were displaying fine, but are now gone. The info is still viewable from the u button. What folder does it save the pictures to. The jpg are still in the rom folder. Any help would be great. Thanks

Any way to increase box art size or is that something slated for a future update?

It isnt an option yet but it will be at some point. I personally think larger art makes you scroll way too much but I see no reason not to let you guys do it if you want to.

have a retrolink usb NES controller. REALLY want it to work with my OUYA, thought you could just plug it in :( Anybody know how to help?

I haven't tried the NES one, but people have reported that the SNES one works. The N64 one doesn't. Basically, the controller (any controller) has to be supported both by the Android kernel OUYA is using, and also by the app/game you are running. In most emulators, if the controller is supported in the kernel, you will still probably need to go into the settings and map the controls.

i have my ouya since yesterday. I have purchased nostalgia as one of my first steps!
One of the installed emulators is neo.emu and when I try to launch some games i get back to nostalgia after seeing a short black screen with a yellow font in the lower part!
The Bios files are copied to the rom folder. Maybe i should set up the bios anywhere? Can someone help me?

Another Problem is: when I using the interactive fetching, I have afterwards the rom cover two times in the list! one is launchable the other not. Same Issue with genesis and snes.

I am missing a favorites function! when I use emu launchers on wii there was an function to check some roms as favorites to find them fast? Is that featere planned? or did I overseen it?

Try loading the emulator and playing the game direct then go back to nostalgia and try it.I had that same issue with the Nintendo ds emulator that works with nostalgia.now it works great.

Ok, amazing idea for an app, however none of my roms are properly showing up, my copy of "D" for the playstation is showing up as "3D World Runner" and Sonic Adventure is showing up as Koko Adventure and both for the NES and any attempt to go into Interactive Fetch is proving useless

Lets say I have a copy of Shenmue on my Ouya as file ShenD1.cdi, how can I tell this program that the game is infact Shenmue for the Dreamcast and too treat is as such

Can you add support for the non + version of SNES9x EX? I've found it has better compatibility with some roms but Nostalgia won't see it in the settings menu even though I have it sideloaded and it appears in the emulators list.

I'm having an issue little issue with the way this app stores metadata. My games are stored on a CIFS share which is mounted with read and write permissions but for some reason Nostalgia still stores all of the .info files and .jpgs locally. This wouldn't be a huge issue except the games don't show up unless I copy all the local .info files to my CIFS share and then rescrape the .info files. I know that I have write permissions because I'm easily able to copy to the share with a file explorer so why is this happening? Can it be fixed so that it will scrape directly onto the CIFS share?

I think we sorted out your issues on the other thread but just in case:
The main fetcher will do terribly with names like that but once you have data fetched, you can use the interactive fetch to find the proper titles. It wouodnbe impossible for me to automate the fetching of titles with names like the one you provided. Im just not that good.

You are dealing with a bug that I am working on fixing in the google play port. Ill need to fix it here as well. The real issue is that I, being the short sighted coder that I am, only accounted for storage options that include the usbdrive mount and the internal sd. I will get that situation sorted out.

I do have a couple of requests...first is that I have a NES30 controller but it doesn't have L2 and R2 buttons so I can't use it to bring up the select console menu. Would it be possible to have an option to change what the controller buttons do?

It would also be cool to have some kind of recents/favorites menu. Sometimes I can't remember which game I was playing recently and have to search through the whole list trying to find it. Having a separate screen which showed your favorite games from any system on would be awesome too.

I'm not sure if this is possible but being able to filter by genre would be a handy feature :)

Hello - Just purchased this a few days ago - I saw many recommendations, and I am happy I listened. This definitely helps sort through potential fun, and get to the game you want. Thank you for creating this awesome app.

a little help please - I noticed that the game battletoads for nes does not show up in the games list. I have fetched multiple times, and no file extensions are hidden. the extension is .nes, and most of the other games seem to come up. (I can't tell if this is one file or many that is affected.) If I go to an emulator directly, without nostalgia, it is in the games list. Please advise how I can fix this issue? Thank you

Odd request but I have downloaded the trial apk and side loaded it on my fire tv is there any way for me to purchase this? It works great with a wired 360 controller plugged in. Alternatively, any plans on also releasing this for the fire tv as this works better than any current solution for a front end on the fire tv.

Sorry man. Right now theres no built in way to purchase it on any other system but I will do some research on fire tv and see what it would take. Im also working on a google play version so it shouldnt be too hard to add to the work queue. Does the demo and fetching work well on fire tv?

Yeah everything worked pretty much as I expected it to work. Using nes.emu it launched the games and Nostalgia scraped almost everything perfectly. I did have a problem with the genesis.emu app not auto launching the game and instead just launching the main screen of the emulator, but I think that has more to do with the emulator than with Nostalgia. If you have a play store version on the way I assume that will work on the fire tv no problem as you can unoffically load the play store and the ouya store for that matter on the fire tv. let me know if you want me to test anything on my fire tv for you.

Hi. I just purchased the app the other day. It's super convenient! The one problem I'm having with it is getting the box art. After fetching each system individually a few times, and re-fetching for missing metadata, only 3 of the 100+ roms will display properly. Am I missing a step or something? Is there another way to get the box art?

It's a known problem. The sources, that Nostalgia grabs the data from, block your IP for a couple of hours. I don't know if dra6onfire found a solution to this yet.

I have not had the chance to work on Nostalgia in over a month. Some re-org at work is taking tons more time from my day than expected but it is calming down. Hopefully soon I will be able to throw some hours at the work queue for Nostalgia. I do have some solutions for some of the metadata issues but it may not work as effectively or quickly as it did before.

I'm experiencing the same thing right now, so I can totally understand.

I'd just like to thank you for your enormous effort which is immeasurably more valuable than $1. I've finally tweaked, trimmed, & renamed my library to be everything I wanted it to be, but it would be a jumbled mess without Nostalgia. Now everything is nicely displayed and at my fingertips. You have helped justify my Ouya purchase and are a prince among men.

For some reason Nostalgia opens Snes9x EX+ emu but does not load the game i clicked on? it just takes me to the main menu of Snes9x ?
anyone know why?

I'm having the same issue with a different game... Lolo 1... My Battletoads comes up fine though... Hmm, maybe it's just a bad rom? Gonna tinker more this week
