Nvidia Shield Console with X1 Announced

I think it counts as different names because of Shield Portable(Tegra 4), Shield Tablet(K1), and Shield Console(X1). It looks like they are using the name Shield as a brand name for their own devices that have a focus around gaming and for each chip with Shield Hub being for filtering of games optimized for those devices exclusively and TegraZone for filtering of games optimized for the chips generally. Anyway, short hand names using the chips could be the Shield T4, Shield K1, and Shield X1.

If Obox can match the price, but even if it doesn't, being modular alone still makes it really beneficial. But for me, this Shield has all of the power that I need for media crap and beyond.

The thing is, all of them are just named "Shield". Consumers gave them the latter part of their names because Nvidia is not clever enough to do it themselves.

I wonder if they will update the Shield console with their latest SOC every year.

P.S When they launched the Shield Tablet, they mentioned that Shield would be a product family name, and that the Tablet was now the newest member of the Shield Family. That is why I had guessed in the previous Nvidia thread that they would call it Shield TV - turns out they just went for Shield which is weird and confusing. No doubt it will be dubbed Shield something by the time it launches.

Wasn't the portable just called "Shield" at first? I swear that was what it was before they announced the tablet.

Yes it was, but when they announced the Tablet, they mentioned that Shield would now be a product family name. You might remember the tag they used "Introducing the newest member to the Shield family"

I know this part, what I didn't know was that they changed the first Shield's name to Shield Portable. In the end, they could have come up with better names than Shield Portable and Shield Tablet. ShieldBoy and ShieldVita would have been at least something interesting. :D

I see separate names for them on their site.

Shield Console will kill OUYA2 and all the other future microconsoles.
Seems a great work from Nvidia, at a good price.
