New Hotfix out for Chupacabra
Hey folks,
We just pushed out a new hotfix for Chupacabra. It's mainly bug fixes and optimizations, but most of them came from reports in this forum (for example, "free download" showing instead of "launch" on favorited sideloaded games, and not being able to navigate screenshots in fullscreen with the analog stick. Keep the feedback coming! =) The list of changes is:
“Chupacabra” Hotfix #1:
- Sideloaded games in PLAY now say “(U) Launch” instead of “(U) Free Download”
- You can now navigate screenshots by pressing left and right while fullscreen
- Fixed an issue where external drives were showing less available space than they actually had
- Fixed an issue where recommended games weren’t showing in the launcher
- Fixed an issue where the BUY button wasn’t going away for games after redeeming a voucher
- Fixed an issue where downloading to external storage after a search could display a game title as “null”
- Fixed an issue where Developer pages could show a blank twitter handle
- Other various small fixes and optimizations
Thanks for all the support!

The risk of updates "On Demand"
Hi to all,
Last night started my OUYA baby and I was surprised by the message "upgrade available" .
Well, go with that , I thought and downloaded it, surprised by the short time between this update and Chupacabra.
Once finished (with no problem) I looked at this forum and I find a message which says that the update responds in many ways to the request of users , which leads me to ask the following:
It's really good that OUYA´s people work so hard based on the feedback received from users ?
I appreciate that they listen to us so closelly and as a user of Wii and Playstation still amazes me they respond so well and quickly (well, that they respond in any way).
But having worked several years in one manufacturer of CCTV products that also did the same (IndigoVision) I realized that working "On demand" does not always ends up being positive.
For many years IndigoVision has prepared its software and hardware roadmap according to what customers required, the engineering team pushed the hardware and software to do things that was beyond the posibilities, errors arised and the system started to miss some really market driving capabilities just because the engineers was busy doing what customers asked. That resulted in an obsolete product compared with the mainstreet, severe lost years they was, until they decided to focus on the real problem, started to work tied to a concrete - well planified road map with real objectives and real time deadlines and not in patch the system to do what people needed.
is obvious that the general improvements benefit all of us, teh guys of OUYA still walks in the right direction and in this forum i see many brilliant ideas that we could or couldn´t see implemented some day, but in the other hand i see many requirements of the type " I would like you support my joystick XXX" or "The U button MUST go up, or down, or..." and this take away valuable developers time. So its well spended time?
The fact that the OUYA is based in Android is extremelly good and extremelly bad for many reasons, so may be OUYA developers would spend the time making the console do what is expected, what do tou think?
Before all you yell at me, I was tempted too many times and I have complained about things like MOGA support , so i not try to evangelize anyone.
But i really believe in OUYA and open source and therefore would not want to see it ending as a failed experiment.
What are you saying?:numbness:
