Hi

I only recently got my OUYA and am having a blast with MAME4droid! I found Mr Do's excellent artwork repository (backgrounds/bezels/overlays) but was a surprised to see there wasn't any artwork for Pac-Man, so decided to make my own (actually, I later realized the Pac-Man artwork was stored under Puck-Man).

Anyhoo, I decided to carry on making my own artwork that also utilises the extra screen space of a widescreen TV display. It mocks up a view of playing the games in an actual arcade cabinet, complete with shading, shadows, and screen reflection that covers a bottom section of the game screen. All to make it as realistic as possible. The reflection really doesn't distract when playing games, and I think adds an extra layer of realism. What do you think?

If you would like to try them yourself, you can download them below. Let me know what you think!

Usage notes:
* Download and unzip the individual artwork files into your MAME4droid artwork folder.
* All artwork now has three versions:
- Full artwork
- Artwork without screen reflection
- Artwork without screen reflection and artwork shading
These can be selected from the in-game MAME menu, under 'Video Options'.
* The black screen bezel is displayed separately as a backdrop layer. I did this because it displays more cleanly this way, and you can turn it off/on independently in the 'Video Options' menu.

I think those look fantastic! I haven't started using MAME on my OUYA yet, but I plan on it at some point, and these really look like they make the experience more authentic. I think that I would probably prefer versions without the slight glare/reflection effect in front of the screen, but it does look classy.

Thanks! That would be no problem as all the elements that comprise the image are on separate Photoshop layers. 1 click and I can turn off the reflection. :)

I will probably provide both versions in the artwork zip, and then you can turn the reflections on/off from the in-game MAME menu, via 'video options'.

Hi, thanks they look good, any chance of them being in a higher resolution? Look a bit jagged on the edges.

Hi, thanks they look good, any chance of them being in a higher resolution? Look a bit jagged on the edges. The images are at the full 1080p resolution (1920x1080). However, I think MAME4droid displays games at a lower res. I think it also only uses a 16bit colour depth - this is the main reason some of the shading doesn't look that great (looks really smooth on my PC's 32bit display). I'm hoping seleuco will be able to add an option to run games at a higher colour depth and resolution with a future update to MAME4droid (fingers crossed!), but I don't know how possible that would be.

In the meantime, you can lessen the effect by turning on the scanlines overlay, in MAME4droid.

Yeah i have scanlines on, thanks for letting me know about the colour depth etc
What it be possible to have plain overlays like above without the pacman stuff, but come up automatically on any game, obviously a horizontal and vertical version would be needed, any ideas if this is possible?

I've seen other people ask about this, but as far as I know it isn't currently possible in MAME. It would be useful. The only way of doing it now, is to create an individual artwork zip for every game!

True, although I don't think there is artwork for every game - but I may be wrong. Also, I couldn't find anywhere to download decent artwork packs. The one I did download only had artwork for a few less than about 50 games - most of which I never play.

No there isn't, but as someone said below mr do's arcade has 887 games with artwork, some good, some not so good! But you cant download in one big file, you can other mame artwork, ,marquees etc but not layout files with all the images in one, well not that i can find so far.

MAME should automatically display artwork when it finds a valid artwork zip file. You can turn artwork elements on/off from the MAME menu, under 'video options'. However, this is usually enabled by defauly so, I suspect, your .lay file could be invalid. .lay files are actually just simple XML files. If it's just bezel artwork you want to display, there's this nifty script that creates the .lay file code for you:
http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_lay.php

Also, this is a good introduction to .lay files:

No, I couldn't find one either, which if partly the reason why I decided to try and make my own. :)

Not that I know of, but it would be better to just implement the default horizontal/vertical artwork to MAME, as AmigaJay links to here:

MAME should automatically display artwork when it finds a valid artwork zip file. You can turn artwork elements on/off from the MAME menu, under 'video options'.

Thanks -- some of them do seem to be working, but not all. I got them all from Mr. Do. I will do more investigating. The files presented here look AWESOME, but many of the other files make the game portion so small (for the cocktail style artwork all around) that I can't really see the game very well on my 32" TV ;-) But still -- very cool!

As to getting a full set, I did a batch download from Mr. Do's site using some terminal commands on my Mac. It's clunky, but it worked. Here is what I did. From a Unix style terminal (needing commands "curl", "sed", "grep" and "xargs"), create a directory and change in to it:

alsmb:~ allenh$ mkdir ~/Desktop/artwork
alsmb:~ allenh$ cd ~/Desktop/artwork
alsmb:artwork allenh$

1. Get the "full listing HTML" page (http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork_ingame.php?p=a#here) either by viewing it in a browser and "Save As..." the HTML file, or using the "curl" command which will download an HTML file like this:

curl mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork_ingame.php?p=a#here >artwork.html

This puts a file called "artwork.html" there I can sort through to find the actual .zip file paths.

2. I then filter though the file looking for just the lines that refer to the artwork zip files, and put that in a second file called artwork2.html:

grep .info/artwork artwork.html >artwork2.html

3. I then filter that file through a string editor command that basically cuts off everything at the start and the end of the line leaving just the URL to the actual .zip file:

sed 's/.*href="\(.*\)">mirror1.*/\1/' artwork2.html > artwork.txt

(If you prefer downloading the files from the second mirror2 link, change "mirror1" to "mirror2" above. This command scoops up everything up to the first href=" and then finds the actual path to the zip file, up to where the link ends with ">mirror1...)

This gives me artwork.txt which just contains the file references:

http://www.progettoemma.net/mw/czeroize.zip
http://www.progettoemma.net/mw/zookeep.zip
http://www.progettoemma.net/mw/zupapa.zip
http://www.progettoemma.net/mw/zzyzzyxx.zip

4. And then I can make it run a "curl" command to download each file:

cat artwork.txt | xargs -I {} curl -O {}

Or, to do it in one line:

curl mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork_ingame.php?p=a#here | grep .info/artwork | sed 's/.*href="\(.*\)">mirror1.*/\1/' | xargs -I {} curl -O {}

This will crank for awhile and download, one file at a time (to not overload the server), 1.79GB of artwork files:

-rw-r--r-- 1 allenh staff 2874320 Jan 31 22:52 10yard.zip
-rw-r--r-- 1 allenh staff 454656 Jan 31 22:53 gtmr.zip
...and so on...

There is probably a more elegant way to do this using Unix commands, but this is just what I threw together quickly.

If he cant add it to mame4droid, the other way i just remembered is to use mame2010 in retroarch which uses the same romset, retroarch allows overlays and shaders on any core it runs.

Indeed, that's why for my own artwork I decided to keep the game screen at full height for vertical games. I was originally going to have a little bit of bezel art display above and below the game screen, but found the scaling and/or scanlines didn't play so nice. For horizontal games, I'm going to keep the same size game screen, just rotated horizontally. This will keep everything consistent and allow me to show some top/bottom bezel art on horizontal games. :)

Good job on the batch download, too. ;)

I haven't tried Retro Arch yet. Will do this afternoon. ;)

[edit]

OK, tried Retro Arch but not too impressed, to be honest. Control is awful at times, or seemingly non-existent! I get slowdown with basic shaders, yet Retro Arch runs silky smooth on my Android TV stick - and that is just dual core with inferior Mali GPU.

AmigaJay

Yeah retroarch can be funny, it needs things like wifi etc turned off, i have noticed sometimes its slow if its been on a while so i reboot and its ok again.
Anyway ive downloaded 10 or so artwork packs from mr do's site and whilst i like the artwork it takes too much of the screen up and you cant read what some of it says anyway, and if you scale larger it just looks worse, so if nobody can work out a standard overlay without altering the gamescreen size then ill pass on this and leave as it is.

One thought would be to go through all the Mr. Do artwork, and crop the top and bottom off where the screen is. The end result would be a full frame graphic with the tops and bottoms clipped off, and whatever extends too far left/right missing. I think that would be a fine compromise. It seems the cropping could be done fairly easily in a program like GraphicConverter on the Mac, but I will have to take a look at the XML in the .lay files and see if it would be easy to adjust the values there in a similar way.

My artwork uses the full screen height for vertical games. For horizontal games, I have a bit of artwork above and below, like this (WIP):

I prefer horizontal games like this. I find displaying them at full size, everything looks too big and blocky.

Thanks. Yeah, it's plenty big enough for me, and I only have a 26" TV - although, I do sit right in front of it when playing. :P

I'm also doing versions without the shading (no artwork shadowing or screen reflection). I'll put them up for download when ready, in case anyone else wants to use them.

Thanks - it's good to get positive feedback. :) Can I ask if you prefer playing with the screen reflection/shadowing on or off? I prefer playing with it turned on but am wondering if most people prefer playing without?

I can't seem to find any bezel art for Zaxxon. Do you have a link to where I can get it? Also, can you confirm the following is the artwork you'd like used for Vanguard:

I prefer the reflection on, with one exception. I keep it off on Galaga. It distracts my eye a little too much on that one, but I don't know why.

That vanguard bezel is correct, yes.

Actually, never mind the Zaxxon request. After just looking at some cabinet pics, I was clearly misremembering; Zaxxon's bezel is just black. I've been using this as a 'fake' artwork: http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_otherart/zaxxon1000.png

Thanks again for everything!

That's probably because the Galaga game screen is mostly black. The reflection shows up more on games like this. You will probably notice it more on Vanguard, too (now included in Pack 2 ;)).

Hi, have been playing around with the borders, sorry if this comes across nit picky, but loading up ghouls n ghosts with the border, i thought nice border etc but looked at the screen and it looks slightly squashed aspect ratio, you notice this more if you look at the grass and its stretched pixels, this is why i say nit picking because some people wouldn't notice or even care but i love the pixel art of old games and if it doesn't look right it will nag at me to change it!
Going through the aspect ratio 3.5x is the closest to the screen size you are using, is there any chance you could resize the blank bezel or layout to fit the 3.5x scale, I'm guessing it cant be many pixels out, but enough to notice, if you cant no problem.

I'm the same - I don't like playing with bad scaling. I also insist on smooth scrolling (something MAME4droid seems to do well) else it kills the gaming experience for me.

However, getting things just right can be tricky. Arcade games where rendered at a variety of different resolutions, yet were always displayed on 4:3 aspect monitors (rotated for vertical games). My artwork uses a game screen res of 1080 x 810 (810 x 1080 for vertical) which is a perfect 4:3 ratio. So, for example, Bomb Jack (one of my favs :)) is rendered at a resolution that's almost square, but the vertical/horizontal controls of the monitor were set to stretch/squash the image to fit a vertical 3:4 display. In other words, the scaling was done using the monitor, rather than the games code rendering at 4:3. This was something that the old analog monitors could do really well - all pixels were effectively scaled by the exact same amount.

With MAME, we have a different situation - it has to do any scaling itself when it renders the game screen. Depending on what scaling/aspect settings have been made, this can result in inconsistent scaling on lines of pixels (e.g. you get different size dots in Pac-Man - yuk!).

Basically, you just have to play around with the various MAME settings until you get a display you're happy with. There is a setting that lets MAME scale beyond the screen boundries which can help keep things looking nice, at the expense of losing a a small area at the top/bottom or left/right of the game screen, depending on the game res. Also, for horizontal games like Ghouls n Ghosts, you can change the artwork view setting in 'Video Options' from full to cropped. This lets you play the game full screen, with a bit of artwork on either side.

Thank you; pack 2 is wonderful! Vanguard is perfect (and surprisingly the reflection doesn't distract me on that one. More colour moving through the area I think). And Bank Panic... I think I spent an hour playing it. I finally have artwork that works well on a TV.

I sincerely hope someone else makes some requests, so I don't become "that guy", but how about Galaxian and Donkey Kong? All those old Namco/Midway and Nintendo games had awesome bezels that added so much to the experience.

Heh, yeah - Bank Panic is a great game. Every time I test out my artwork in MAME, I end up playing the games for ages instead of getting on with more artwork. :p

I was all set to do Donkey Kong but it's a bit tricky as the artwork wasn't actually displayed around the screen. It was on a perspex window, mounted vertically on the front of the cab. As such, the artwork doesn't fit naturally around a screen - the sides are diagonal, as you can see here (http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork/dkong.png). There are several other games that displayed artwork like this, such as Popeye. I've been wondering how best to tackle such artwork, but it'll almost certainly involve some chopping around to make it fit nicely. :)

Galaxian shouldn't be a problem. There's 2 versions - one is just black and white and the other has a bit of blue on it. I'll probably use the latter.

[edit]Actually, scratch that. It seems the black and white one is the original bezel. I'll use that. :)

Update now available. See first post for details.

This is the greatest...thing...ever. I can't quite explain why, but this art on the Ouya looks more authentic - more *playable* - than anything I've seen on any version of MAME, ever (with the possible exception of screen curvature).

Some questions:

- The art looks a little nappy in 16-bit color...is there any way anyone knows of to force MAME4Droid to use 32-bit rendering?
- Would it be possible (owing to earlier complaints) to offer artwork with the bezel shading but not the monitor shading?
- (For David) Assuming MAME4Droid uses OpenGL layer drawing in much the same way the Direct3D version does for Windows, can we please have the artwork ignore any filters, such that the "screen" is filtered but the artwork is not?

Awesome, AWESOME work! You've completely reinvigorated my interest in MAME!

Thanks - glad you like. :)

I'll add an option in the next update to just have the bezel shading without the screen reflection, which I know can be a bit distracting on some games. It actually looks much better at 32bit.

I had the same questions as you, which Seleuco answered in a MAME4droid post here (http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?7002-Discover-MAME4Droid-David-Valdeita-Loureiro&p=103160&viewfull=1#post103160).

Yeah, I just pointed it out in case you missed it. An update to MAME4droid for a 32-bit display would be so cool, as long as it doesn't slow things down too much. The artwork looks so much better. :)

I just got my Ouya a few weeks ago (I'm a lonnnng time Mame user, since about 1998) and have to thank you for such a great effort. I've tinkered with getting Mame on to my TV (and my GP32, GP2X, Caanoo, Zero and PSP) in many many ways over the years, but thanks to your beautiful artwork files I've finally (FINALLY!) got it playing and looking like it should on the big screen.

Again, if there's a particular game you'd like me to do, just say, and I'll include it in the next update. Just make sure it's available on Mr Do's artwork repository (http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork_ingame.php). ;)

I'm guessing an obvious choice would be Space Invaders. =)

A Neo-Geo generic would also pretty pretty sweet. (IIRC, the MAME one for neogeo actually "inserts" the game marquee art for each sub-ROM/game, so the generic marquee "automagically" adapts to every NeoGeo game with the 'poster art'.)

big10p I''m guessing you're around the same age as me, going by your supported games.
They're all ones in my favourites, every last one! I began to lose interest in arcade games around '88 or so.

That said, here's some I'd love to see supported. The list is long I know, so ignore it at your leisure (I just had some spare time this afternoon).

But maybe it'll give you an idea for one or two that you'd like to see.

Bosconian
Exerion
Elevator Action
Moon Cresta
Phoenix

Sinistar
Lunar Lander
Omega Race
Burnin' Rubber
Rally X

Gravitar

Gorf

OK, after a short illness, I've now managed to get back to this and release Pack 5! See first post for download and release notes about a fixed bug in layout files for vertical games.

I've started having a bash at doing Space Invaders but it's a bit of a toughie, due to the bezel having a horizontal window, yet the game is vertical.

As for Neo-Geo games, they all seemed to just use a plain, generic bezel, with details about the particular game displayed on the marquee. Not really sure what to do about these games as I don't want to simply plonk the marquee artwork onto the bezel display. It wouldn't fit very well and would probably just look nasty.

Yeah, Lady Bug artwork is a good one. I played the game as a kid but don't recall seeing this artwork. My eyebrows raised slightly when seeing it as it's slightly risqué for such an innocent looking game. :D

Yeah bare buttocks at 9 o'clock ha ha. So many of these early classic-era games had beautiful artwork, it was an intrinsic part of the experience, like pinball back glasses.

I'm having fun tinkering around with settings to get everything to display as finely as possible without slowdown. Typical Mame experience!

This is an off-topic post, but I saw something here about flipping your Ouya for better controller reception, and bugger me if it doesn't work!

I flipped mine so the top is facing me. Not only can I now see when it's turned on, but it's way way more responsive to input. I could feel it straight away even in the menus.

I'm probably late to the party on this tip, but if anybody hasn't tried this, try it!

It seems files sometimes get corrupted somehow when dealing with various zip files. Odd, as the backdrop image displays fine when viewing it on my PC. I'll fix and re-upload today. Sorry about that.

Yep, I certainly find myself playing games for longer and getting more invloved, somehow. I've started chasing the high score on games again - like I did as a kid - and get quite a buzz when I beat it. Sad really, lol. :D

BTW all, the next pack is close to completion and when I release it, there will also be new versions of the existing packs, as I've found a slight error in one of the images: The version with the screen reflection darkens the game screen slightly. I didn't notice this initially as it doesn't show in PhotoShop, due to using a 'lighten' blending mode for the reflection.

If you're not bothered about this, there will be no need to download the packs again.

Pack 6 now available for download. See first post. :)

I did notice the shrunken screen on Double Dragon but I think that might be the way it is on the arcade game. When the title screen flashes yellow, you should be able to see it's working fullscreen. Not sure why the actual game isn't, though.

Now if it the artwork only covered just the sides (kinda like in the Pac-Man games) then it would be perfect.I just realized you can do this already:

- Go to 'Settings' and select 'Emulation'

- At the bottom, change 'View' from 'Full' to 'Cropped'

Yet another off-topic, these look fantastic on my Nvidia Shield. Obviously they'll look good on any widescreen device, but as the Shield (like the Ouya) is effectively locked to landscape, it's a perfect fit. Thanks yet again, big10p! Looking forward to pack 8. :)

I've always thought it was a shame when cabinet art began it's slide into irrelevance. I guess it was when operators realised they could swap boards in and out. I remember that if you were lucky, the marquee would show the actual game! So many lost all their artwork. I think it was around the mid 80's or so.

These art packs really add to my enjoyment. So big up to big10p.

Yeah, the artwork should work on any 16:9 widescreen device. I use it on my dedicated MAME setup. The HLSL shader effects in MAME for Windows really do a great job of mimicking the look of a real arcade monitor, even down to the screen curvature. Talking of which, I'm working on updating all artwork packs which include several tweaks/improvements including a reworked screen bezel that shades the edges of the game screen to the shape of a CRT arcade monitor. This looks really nice with HLSL shaders but looks better (I think) even on versions of MAME that don't support shaders (like MAME4droid).

It's taking me a while to update all artwork as I've done quite a few games, now. :) Pack 8 is on it's way, though. Gorf is already done, complete with working panel lamps (which was quite a fiddle to get working and looking nice).

Bezel art certainly went by the wayside with non-dedicated cabs, like the Neo-Geo where they simply changed the game cart and marquee instructions. I've been asked to do artwork for Metal Slug, but I can't because bezel art for it doesn't exist! It is a shame, really. Ironically, some lesser known - and not-so-great - games had fantastic bezel art. :)

Gorf was one I hoped you'd do. I'm a sucker for those cabinets with lamps and scoreboards (Buck Rogers, Turbo, et al.). Kind of a missing link between pinballs and video machines.

In honour of last month's passing of Geoff Edwards, I have a request: Bagman, if you have time. Geoff was the host of many American and Canadian TV gameshows, including an 80s arcade machine-themed one called Starcade. He was on record as saying that Bagman was his favourite machine. I think there is source art at Mr. Do's. I can't check at the moment; my workplace blocks gaming sites -- but this forum slips through!

Very Impressive Collection. Very nice work

I am actually using these on the PS3 version of RetroArch ..

I am Known as STLcardsWS in the PS3 Community. I am apart of a project called RetroXMB (a small mod to RetroArch, that allows direct booting of roms from the PS3's XMB). I have added your collection to here link (http://psx-scene.com/forums/f190/retroxmb-official-guide-wip-122678/#post1128821) (with a link back to this thread and credits)

Handy collection of stuff on that website. :) I notice that in the screenshot of Pac-Man, the monitor bezel isn't being displayed. Doesn't that work on PS3 RetroArch?

That's right. Someone has requested Zaxxon before but it's unavailable simply because Zaxxon didn't have any bezel artwork, unfortunately. You can always use the artwork from another game, though. Simply make a copy of the artwork zip and rename it zaxxon.zip, in the artwork folder. Galaxian and Gyruss have good, generic artwork for vertical, space shooter games. :)

Oh, talking of generic bezels - in the next pack I'm doing a generic bezel for all Neo-Geo games, since none of them had artwork. Below is what I've come up with so far, but still not sure if I like the matching t-molding effect. There will also be a plain, red bezel version too, like some of the actual Neo-Geo arcade cabs had.

Any chance you could do a (really) generic bezel for vertical games? To bring up Zaxxon again, it had a plain black bezel. Combined with your cabinet styling, and monitor curviture shaping, that would make a pretty good generic for most non-fancy games in my opinion.

Hi

I haven't had time to do a full artwork pack recently (soon, hopefully!), but I have managed to do a plain, generic cab to use with horizontal/vertical games that don't have any bezel artwork:

big10p MAME generic cab artwork (http://bit.ly/1mZm0n8)

You will need to manually make a copy of the vertical or horizontal artwork zip, and put it in your MAME artwork folder. Then you need to rename the file with the ROM name of the game you want to use it with. e.g. rename it to starforc.zip to use it with Star Force.

It is actually possible to get MAME to automatically display generic artwork for games without a specific artwork file, but this requires MAME to be compiled using custom layout files. I've done it with MAME on PC. :)

We used an Ouya running MAME for the first part of a "Flashback Friday" 80s teen game night. Did a high score contest, before they moved on to playing actual Atari VCS and NES games. It is kind of like watching one of those Kids React (to something old) videos, and was a blast.

Been a while since volume 12. Is this a "retired" project?

I really hope not. Even though the generic vertical and horizontal cabs work for most games, it would still be nice to have cabs for games with background art like Asteroids Deluxe and overlays like Battlezone. :)

A few questions about layouts and mame4droid in general.

Can I adjust them so horizontal games use maximum screen size while maintain aspect?
So basically just the sides?

Also I plan to play vertical games like dig-dug on a vertical monitor on a different android platform, can these layouts be adjusted to fill up the space at the top & bottom of the screen?

Thanks.

Hi

You need to be running a game in MAME4droid to access the menu because the options are individual to each game/rom. When running a game, press the left and right shoulder buttons at the same time. This should bring up the options menu.

I would need to get to my Ouya to help you properly, but I know that you can change the button combination to bring up the internal Mame menu. I have mine set as both trigger buttons (L2 and R2) at the same time. The previous guy has his set as both sticks down. You set that in the global options, where you can set which controller you use etc (I use a PS3 controller) and a bunch of other stuff.

You must change the artwork file name to match the name of the rom you are using it with or it won't work.

Hey big10, these packs are great, I have been adding them to my Ouya since you started posting them :-)

I have just recently made myself a Mame cabinet and using a PC with Mame Version 0.156 on it and there are quite a few bezel art packs missing even after using emumovies and others. And of course the mame packs here don't work on the PC version (that would have been to good to be true!! LoL)

So I guess what I'm asking is, is there anyway to get these packs to work on a PC version of Mame ?? because a lot of the ones I need are in these packs.... Mappy, Tutankhamen, kangaroo etc...

Any help from anybody would be appreciated as I am not good at making stuff like that !! Lol

Thanks and great work !!!

Darryl

Okay I found the PC version of your mame packages on a site and put them in and they work great.

How do I Create/open a .lay file. There are different links that tell you the basics of lay and bezels and show you what to type. But nothing shows you how to enter it or where ??

Any chance of seeing The Pit or Pulsar ?? :o)

I've used them on a PC version of MAME, but one that matches the the android/ios version (139u1, I think.)

I hope Big10p finds time in the future to do more of these, too, but I do recognise when real life happens. :)

Sorry for the late reply but I haven't visited here in a while and didn't get notifications of new posts. I now have my own JAMMA arcade cab so have been busy restoring/fiddling/learning. :)

To try and answer some of your questions:

Thebrownfalcon: did you manage to get things working, in the end?

Dashingw: Yes, these packs should work on any platform that has a version of MAME that supports artwork. The .lay files are simple text files - just tell Windows to open them using NotePad, or the like.

AmigaJay: The bezels with lamps are a bit tricky! It's all done in the .lay file. I just learnt from how Mr Do! did it in the MAME World artwork - from which all my packs are derived. I think the only other one I've done so far with bezel lamps is Gorf.

As for requests, remember not all game bezel scans are available, and some arcade games never had bezel artwork. If you have a link to original artwork of the requested games, post here and I'll se what I can do. :)

Cheers, all!

P.S. Thanks for all the good feedback - it really helps with motivation to do more packs! ;)

Ok Here's a stupid question, I have a screen saver that plays mame avi's (short videos like demo's of the games). Of course there is nothing around the video of the game so it just looks like the games screen with nothing but black on the sides. Any way of incorporating a bezel like image in each video ?? Probably not but just throwing it out there....

The only way I can think of to do that would be to record your own videos in MAME, with the bezels showing. If you have a fairly recent nVidia card, they have a nifty feature called Shadow Play that lets you record stuff.

Fair enough, and you've certainly earned "retirement". ;) While I do still have an Ouya buried somewhere, I long ago switched to an Nvidia Shield Portable as my primary android microconsole.

If you ever do get around to finishing pack 16, though, I do have a request: could you do a generic cab for dual screen games (like punch out and various other Nintendo games)? Alas they don't work with the standard vertical cab.

On a side note-- what boards do you have for your JAMMA cabinets?

Those dual screen games - like Playchoice 10 and Megatech - would be tricky to do on a horizontal monitor, TBH. I may have a go at it though, if/when I get back into doing artwork.
