Play the web version (Unity Webplayer) (http://www.renegadeware.com/web_games/megagirl/)

Blast your way across 6 stages, each filled with its own unique obstacles and a boss battle. Once you defeat a boss, you gain a new weapon ability to help you in your journey.

This was developed for the GitHub Game-Off 2013 back in November.

The current version includes 4 stages with 2 weapons pre-unlocked.

The core mechanics of the game is pretty much complete. The final stages are currently in-development. The sound effects will be added later, along with the rest of the aesthetics of each stage.

I'm finishing up this game within this month (hopefully) for the browser and standalone. I will release the game for Ouya as well (after all, this game is designed to be played with a controller). For now you guys can check out the web version.

I'll post a new version of the game here soon with a lot of updates and two other bosses.

Thanks guys!

@undftdroar I'll definitely have a Linux build for this game!

I'm aiming for end of January, but will most likely extend to February. I'm releasing for the web and PC this month, but I want to make sure to take the time to make this work great on Ouya. Plus incorporating any feedback from the primary release. The game is already implemented with porting in mind, so the transition should hopefully be quick.

As far as progress go, I'm finishing up the last two levels this week and the rest of the month will be polishing.

Just some update:

I've gone through all the levels and added the background art.

Made some more tweaks to gameplay and bosses.

I also decided to see how the game works on Ouya:

https://github.com/ddionisio/megagirl/blob/master/Promo/Bd_EkUJCUAE5O_c.jpg?raw=true

Worked like a charm! No framerate issues (thankfully), though now with added art, I'll have to check again. The only things I need to do for this port now is to add button configuration (button mapping is completely different per controller, plus, I prefer the ps3 controller :)), screen size adjustment, texts/icons for ouya specific controls.

As for now, I'm working on the other two final bosses and then going through more polish once again.

Cheers! :eagerness:

Sounds like everything is going smoothly for you. Is there an ETA on this?

I'm hoping sometime February. The next polish I want to make is adding in the rest of the sound effects, and maybe tweak the levels further. There is also the list of bugs I have to go through, and then doing some more testing. :P

Next update is going to be when I finally finish that last boss!

When will Unity just make a version of Web Player for Linux?! It's annoying...

The game looks wonderful, though!

So... Did this get finished in February or is it still in development?

Hi guys,

Sorry for the lack of update! Yes, I suppose February has long passed!

The game is complete and everyone can play it here http://gamejolt.com/games/platformer/gitgirl-battle-rainbow/24164/ There is download for Mac, PC, Linux.

Now, in terms of porting it to Ouya, there weren't any particular issues. There were some optimizations I had to do to boost performance. Most of the culprit is the background art...and I didn't want to redo any of it. What kept me from porting it over is that I have been tweaking the game for the past months. I've had some feedbacks to the game, and I've seen people play it from their videos. So I've tweaked the game several times now. The game, I feel, is ready at this point.

I still want to add easy mode, and possibly some simple form of hotseat multiplay :P (Feature creeps!)

Again, I apologize for not posting updates here! Other interests and projects come up, and the next thing you know, months pass. I will say that Ouya is still in my mind!

As far as ETA goes...I'll say around the last half of October. If anything, I'll post something here!

Thanks guys!

Megaman clones are always wellcome! I will wait for the Ouya version (tired of playing on PC for now...)

Cheers,
Fabrício.
