Hi guys,

I’m working on a mobile game that is 3D version of billiards.
It’s played in real three dimensions without gravity. The balls are floating inside a box instead of a flat table. I’d be glad for some feedback.
What do you think about this concept?

Simple innovative Genius! I'm surprised no-one has really taken this concept before and ran with it.

I actually love what's been done here. Should be a very interesting game to play. The real trickery, and one that's gonna have to be playtested to death, are the ball physics themselves. Balancing how they strike other balls, bounce off the surface, and their travel time / behaviour in a 0G space will be the real key to success. Too little, then it defeats the game's purpose entirely. Too much, and you have a bunch of balls going everywhere and causing an infinite amount of frustration for the player.

It'll be interesting to see how you handle it.

Excellent idea! I'm with Saracen, it will be interesting indeed to watch this develop. You're going to need one hell of a physics algorithm. :D

Definitely keep us all posted on your progress!

definitely interested to see how this plays

I'm with the others as this looks pretty awesome.

Awesome idea!

Are you going to have different types of cue sports? I'm a big snooker fan.

Here's a wiki on the different variations of games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cue_sports

I will post a gameplay next week, it will show the dynamics.
Dan FU : yes , i will systematically add new cue sports in the updates. Snooker is one of the first things on my update list.

I have prepared some themes : Will be glad for some feedback on them:

This is a great idea!

I think this is great, please make it so you can turn of the green pointer if you don't want help making the shot. Makes it even more challenging. A regular flat table game with snooker, eight and nine ball would be a nice project for the next time :-)

There are few levels of aiming help - from full length lines to absolutely no help.

Yeah , i have a classic billiards game planned for the future ;)

Wow! That looks great man. Is that what the gameplay will look like on the Ouya? Also, you had mentioned the ability to be able to turn off the direction lines, and I think I saw a flash of that option towards the end, will we be able to adjust the draw distance of those lines? Will we be able to add spin to the ball?

I am looking forward to trying this out!

Yes, the game will look like this on ouya.
You will be adble to adjust the aiming lines - there are 5 levels of those line available.
As for now there is no spin possibility but i will probably add it in the future. But it's hard to justify the effect of the spin ( even harder than to explain why the balls are stopping :P )

That break at the beginning sold me on it. Still floaty enough to get the 0G aspect clear, but solid enough so you're not waiting ages for it. That seems to relax my concerns about the physics engine. Will definately purchase this then when it arrives.

How much you thinking of selling it for on OUYA?

I suppose that is true as any spin would have less impact, as it were, in 0g. :D

I'm pretty much certain that i'll release it for OUYA, but it'll be after all the mobile platforms are ready. January would be my guess. Glad you liked the physics. I spent a lot of time working on it - observing behaviour in 2D billiards, not only games but also real life pool (imagine two guys in a billiards bar with stopwatch :P ) .

I’ve just found a prototype i’ve made probabyly around March : it’s kinda funny :P Pockets are my favourites ;)

Here's an image showing the progress after 8 months of working on the game . If you look closely you can notice some small improvements ;)

How much longer do you think?? Lol

I'm dying to try this :-)
