Reading that XBMC article, can see some parallels with OUYA (namely in the poor customer service area). Hopefully OUYA can turn things around and reconnect with their early adopters

There are plainly parallels by way of customer support, but OUYA has certainly been listening to the community's complaints and trying to address them. They backed off yearly updates. They rearranged the shipping order. They actually spent too long trying to tune the controller from developer feedback and wound up missing the sticking button issue before they shipped. So they're on the right side of that issue.

I also fully expect OUYA to maintain backwards compatibility basically forever. And I expect that support will be ongoing for at least 2-3 generations (I'm guessing roughly 4-5 years). By that time the requirements of newer games will be pushing older boxes out of service for them.

I really think Boxee's main issues was the fact that they kept abandoning their products. That's certainly something I hope OUYA was planning to avoid even before this story broke.
