View Full Version : THE "idearuh" concerning nostalgia controllers!

Reading this (http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/05/retro-vgs-console-aims-to-revive-the-humble-video-game-cartridge/) really gave me a cool idearuh...

If OUYA had a means to recreate the controller layouts of older system such as NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, etc, boy would those emulators shine all the more (*cough* in dire need of a non-side-loaded Sega Genesis emulator on Discover, *cough*)!

It likely won't happen in the grand scheme of realism, but still kinda cool to drool on this idearuh...

Edit: how to delete unnecessary attachment accidentally uploaded??

...ewww lol that is a nasty looking controller. Frankentrollers are always a bad idea :)
I think if OUYA did that, they may get into legal troubles :P

I have this conrtoller, and it's not so great. The buttons and D-pad just don't feel quite right. They feel very shallow and flat. It's functional, but I dont' enjoy using it.

That aside though, the overall shape and layout is the same as the Wii U Pro controller from Nintendo--which is actually pretty good. Interworks just made a few tweaks to highlight the controller's SNES evolutionarty heritage (the same heritage the Dual Shock series and Xbox controllers already share).

Meanwhile, we would already have support for replica vintage controllers if companies like RetroBit would actually adhere to HID controller input standards correctly...
