Quick question, does anyone know a cheap and elegant solution to getting analogue audio from HDMI? I have a nice Dell 24" monitor which accepts HDMI but does not have audio on board, nor does it have any kind of passthrough (though it has blanks and a similar model does FFS!)

I had a crazy idea to put an Ouya inside an old BOSE Soundwave... complete with USB hub and 250GB 2.5" HDD

I've seen HDMI audio de-embedders, but these seem more concerned with bypassing the HDCP aspect of the HDMI spec, does Ouya use HDCP? Hopefully not

Something like this should do the trick:

Android 4.0+ should support USB audio controller.
Does the OUYA accept USB DAC? If it does then audiophile geeks would be blessed with this little cube.

It should? I have to test my sound card then - I have USB version of XiFi which has very good sound quality. Would be nice if I could use it with OUYA.

I use one of those 'hdmi2hdmi+audio' audio adapters from the link. I don't have any complaints about it.

Any good news with the XiFi?
IMHO generic USB DAC works better without the proprietary driver required.

Tested it with a PS3 as the input just to be sure and the same audio glitch is definitely there too. I also tested the output via headphones and line in on my PC to be certain - it's definitely the HDMI2HDMI box causing the audio problem. I've sent the seller a question just in case this is a known fault with these units. Pretty irritated since I only bought the thing to use with this Ouya, and now I've almost certainly got to buy another.

Edit: This turned out to be a my mistake, a problem with my sound card, not the HDMI2HDMI + Audio box. It's now working fine.
