Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe is a puzzle game that was brought over to OUYA by Landon Podbielski, the maker of Duck Game. It's a very addictive game so if you have somewhere to go in five minutes, don't start up a game or I guarantee you will be late. The title does say it all with this one. Take a falling block puzzle game, add in a bit of old-school platformer, add a couple thousand pixels, and you have Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe.

You start off with the ability to jump and shoot and as you do certain tasks, you're able to upgrade which adds another choice of character (same little guy with different abilities). Next progression adds a jetpack, you can also get the ability to shoot from both sides.

You have falling blocks which you have to shoot. As the blocks come down, you'll want to match colors to eliminate them from the board but watch out, there are spikes under the blocks on the screen so if you take out the ones you're standing on then you're toast unless you have the jetpack and quick reflexes. There are also other obstacles to get in your way like cannons, detonators, drills and more. Some advice, even the ones that you would think would be beneficial to you like the detonator, are not. They'll instakill you like everything else.

The graphics and music are what you would find in a puzzle type game, very fitting and smooth. While playing the game you will get power ups, level up, big point scoring and all of these are great but the words on the screen block the action and can cause you to make a mistake or even lose where you are on the screen. This is probably the only drawback I see in this game.

If you're into puzzle games with an added twist or two then Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe is for you.

I'm giving Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe a 4 1/2 shuriken rating.

Glad I could help you make your decision. It's definitely kind of addictive.

If I'm honest, this is the second time I've been pleasantly surprised by this developer. I admit to being sceptical of the hype surrounding Duck Game when it first came out and thought "there's no way this could be as good as everyone's making out" so I waited for the demo, and it was love at first play! And this game plays as good as it looks, too. Great learning curve, I'm scoring nearly 100 more points every night, it keeps me coming back for more! Got to fill the top ten with "Dokies"!

As always, Landon Podbielski's 16-bit tunes are instantly distinctive and add a lot to the experience (it's the only thing that makes two hours of watching my kids play Amazing Frog? bearable). It's also surprising how well platform and run 'n gun can work alongside puzzle. Total genius! And all this praise from me, whose previous experience of 'block falling' puzzles only stretches as far as Columns 3, which came on a free cartridge with my SEGA Mega Drive all those years ago! SPPD is probably the only game in the world that me and Mrs Doki may one day play together, what with me being a platformer and her a puzzler. :-)

The words on the screen are what kill me every damn time. I could probably go on for an indefinite amount of time like I can with Tetris and Puyo Puyo if it wasn't for the unfairness that the game bestows upon me by basically pulling something similar to someone walking in front of the screen as I'm playing. Other than that the game is perfectly fine.
