About my Multiplayer, 2-Handed Squad-Based Shooter

If you like this game, please Tweet or Like its OUYA Create Entry Page (http://www.killscreendaily.com/create/video.php?submissionID=149)!

Just wanted to make a post about my OUYA Create Jam prototype submission, 2 Hando Commando.

http://www.goodhustle.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/TrainingGrounds.jpg

It's what I call an "ambidextrous shooter", where you can control two guys on the screen with each side of the OUYA controller. The prototype is a splitscreen 2-player game with two maps and two character classes, Officer (pistoleer) and Rifleman (3-shot burst). I almost got a rocket launcher guy in there too, but ran outta time.

The game is a pretty traditional top-down multiplayer shooter except for the fact that it's totally disorienting in a really fun way. :) It's as natural as it can be, though, and learning to become ambidextrous at this game kind of motivates me to keep playing.

Here's a quick "trailer" I cut in the last hours of the Create Jam:

And here's an APK to try out if you've got a devkit already: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ga6jm0zpd5sfnit/TwoHandoCommando.apk

It's just a prototype at this stage, but I love working on it, and have lots of ideas for this game! If you like it, please do share it on social media sites and help spread the word. I'll be posting more info here and on my site at http://www.goodhustle.com soon.

New video devlog: Meet the "Heavy" Rocket Commando!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECy-1UPSCQA

As you can see in the video, I'm starting to do some experiments with making unique control schemes for various character classes. This devlog shows off the new rocket launcher guy, which allows one hand to manually aim and fire deadly explosive rockets. The earlier Officer and Rifleman classes auto-aim, so including a Heavy on your team can bring on some tactical flexibility for coordinated commandos. :)
