Today I bought a new soldering iron and I thought I would test it out with my guinea pig, the OUYA. I cut off the old LED and soldered a bigger one. It is about as fat as my pinky.

I'm thinking about making a homemade case out of foam, but I'm not entirely sure if it'll look good. I guess there's only one way to find out.

Foam? I assume you don't mean packing foam

Yeah... It doesn't look good.

That is certainly a big giant LED on there!
I'm considering bumping up the brightness factor on mine as well, but I'd like mine to fit back into the case afterward.

I haven't opened up my black Ouya yet, but they did really well with the bush button lighting on that one, very bright and distinct.

Foam would be different but yeah....
At least you didn't say some hollowed out animal carcass

I just have my motherboard sitting on the table, similar to the pictures. The case interferes with my wi-fi. I did this for fun, I'll probably cut off the LED and leave the OUYA LEDless. The light is annoying when it's directly exposed and nothing is covering it. I enjoy gaming more in the dark, with only the TV showing lights.

some hollow out animal carcass

That's actually not a bad thought.
