Its finally done. I put my Ouya in a SNES-Case. The original SNES-Controller-Slot is 100% working. I put an USB-Hub inside the Case and 2 USB-Slots in the second controller-slot.
The Eject- and Reset-Buttons are without function. The On-Off-Button is connectet with the Ouya and is working.

Nice work. Don't have a case in front of me to look at, but behind the first controller slot, is there room for a laptop drive in there? Looks like it might fit.

Are you talking about a 2.5" Harddrive?

Yeah... that would be possible. That was my first intention to do. But my HDD-USB-Case was finally a little too big to fit in. So I decided to use a small 64Gb-Stick.

But if you find a small solution it should work. It would be really tight... but possible.

Now someon needs to put the OUYA into an Retrode 2. That would be the ultimate Retro Console ;)

I thougt about using the Retrode. But if I want to use my original cartridges I use my original consoles. Or the upcoming Retron5. I need the Ouya for emulation only.

Apart from that... I thinkt the SNES-Case is too small to put a Retrode in there too...

What WOULD be cool would be to use not only the space inside the Ouya, but to modify an old SNES cartridge to be the harddrive. You could even plug it in and out of the SNES!

I would then get some decals and heat transfers and (after removing the original SNES words and logos) and apply custom Ouya logos etc in the same style as the original SNES ones and also a nice big sticker on the harddrive-inna-cartridge saying the name of your favourite game with the "Ouya seal of quality" possibly on it, too.

Iam working on that atm. The USB-Stick inside the case is not the best solution.

It`s the european model.

The japanese model looks the same... only the US model is different.

Ive got a orignal US model here... (I put the insides from my PAL-version inside and made it multinorm to play NTSC and PAL Cartridges)

I never understand why they changed the look for the US-version... the PAL and NTSC-J versions are really beautiful...

btw. THANKS to everyone who appreciate my work! :encouragement:

100% true!!!! Nothing beats my Mega Drive I with Mega CD!!!

But between the US and ROTW - SNES... I choose the rest! ;)

I'm still searching for an MEGACD, but they're quiet expensive. Will try to get one on the next Retrofair in Oberhausen. ;)

Ive got mine (Mega CD 2) quiet cheap from ebay... I think you have pay a lot more at the Retrofair (but assured quality)

Mega CD 1 is very expensive... wherever you buy it...

Always did like that style of snes ^_^ Saying that you could probably fit that bigger hard drive into an North American snes.

With a little more work and a small SATA->USB-adapter it will work with both versions for sure!

The US-SNES is the same size as the rest of the world. Ive build my european-PAL-board in a US-SNES-case... its the same.

@Cannibalpinhead

Can you point me towards a reference for the OUYA's motherboard pinout?

Update: I replaced the location of the USB-Stick into the cardridge-slot and used an empty cardridge to cover it. This way the Ouya still looks like an old SNES but the Stick is accessible all the time. The cardridge-label will be replaced soon with a SNES-Style OUYA-emblem.
